When New Labour were voted in, the majority of us were sick of right wing politics.

When half of the country objected to the Iraq war, those people were thought of as 'liberal'.

Now, when you read answers to questions about terrorists in this country (like the thread on todays foiled beheading plot, see below for a link), most of the answers are less than liberal in tone, in fact they're downright angry and fed up with the situation concerning immigrants. Meanwhile, people were ready to lynch Jade Goody for her (semi?) apparent racism. It's really easy to generalise over this, but I'm thinking of trends in both our cultural ideology and individual attitudes. Are we subtly shifting towards facism? How can we balance the need to be tolerant with the current political reality? How can human nature overcome the problems we face today?

Muslim women, Like myself, that wear the Headscarf?
I can generally get an idea from people's reactions in the street.. But are you afraid of women like me? Are you hesitant to talk to women like me? If so, why?
Please no religion bashing answers.. I want the truth.. but nothing like: In the Koran it says that Muslims hate every other religion.. or I hate muslims or Muslims are all terrorists...
I can take it.. but it bothers me..

We all do it. I have just been inspired by hearing an art teacher discussing a meeting in a very angry voice, she said "How dare they hold a meeting tonight!" So, answer away.

I was just wondering if your average barber (UK) offers a head-shaving service? I don't mean to a Grade 1 with just the clippers, but a full wet shave leaving smooth skin.

I am thinking of having it done but I've never seen a barber offering a full head wet shave service- everyone I speak to seems to do it themselves, but I want it done nicely by a pro.

Is it likely to cost more than a Grade 1 all over (which takes 5 minutes!)?

Thanks guys!

Which wins in your opinion?

In terms of styling, build quality, character, fuel economy, practicality, reliability, value for money, driveability on today's roads etc etc...or whatever categories you see fit!

Thanks!

It truly amazes me how much people freak out now at non politically correct comments. Its like they have lost all ability to be non conformists. How did our society become so brainwashed? Is the censorship on this forum further conditioning to this trend? People are turning into robots right before our very eyes. It scares the crap out of me.

You may call it father figure complex, but in practical life things are different. What you think of this social issue? take out from your chest and be frank to say anything.

All the questions asked on yahoo, can be, or are answered before the question is asked... or, any question can be answered by searching online...in like 2 minutes.... aside from the fun of answering questions, what's the point? i think it's a trap.

Those who did not watch the show from the beginning would not have seen Shilpa sat in the bedroom 'daily' with Ken & Jermaine - making derogatory comments about Jade, her mother and their level in the class system. shilpa is manipulitive and has done nothing but wallow in self promotion and I got tired of hearing 'for the love of indian people' and 'I'm here to represent indians all ove the world'. What utter rubbish. shilpa should get off her 'mother Theresa' pedestal and do her best to help Jade, Jo and Daniella instead of wallowing in their hurt. This was a simple case of nasty bullying and should be recognised as such. Shilpa should stop chasing the fame and 'indians' should stop burning dummys everytime we say something that remotely associates them with india! by the way - I say again - I am not a racist - just bloody fed up with ballet dancing around 'some' people of indian origin. If this doesnt stop Shilpa could end up doing more damage than good.

We all know US is a powerful country. But apparently they likes to pick on other smaller and weaker countries and their ppl.Furthermore they hv this bad habit of interfering other countries' affairs. But yet they cant even bother to resolve their own problems(e.g.New Orleans which was badly hit by Hurricane Katerina). Can't they just mind thier won business? I do respect their country as a whole but sometimes lots of ppl felt that they are rubbing salt into others' wounds..Well I'm sure they do hv problems themselves but do they really care to put in extra effort to resolve and find solutions for their problems instead?

Round the g-friend's last night, waiting for her to get ready. I was sat lounging in front of the TV and noticed there were two magazines on the coffee table in front of me.

I had a choice between Top Gear magazine (about cars), which would have usually been just my thing; or, there was an Ikea catalogue. After a moments thought I reached for the catalogue and started flipping through the pages, searching for the right living room furniture for my first place.

Is this a sign of shifting life patterns?!

Thanks

Why is it that when someone is in a queue at the supermarket with a couple of items and the person with a full trolley load in front offers the person with a couple of items the chance to be served first, the response from the person with a couple of items is 'Are you sure?'? Surely if the person with the trolley is not sure, he/she would not have offered!

Next time you offer to let someone go in front and he/she asks 'Are you sure?', say 'Acutally, no. I was just kidding!' and that'll teach him/her not to ask next time!
