All the questions asked on yahoo, can be, or are answered before the question is asked... or, any question can be answered by searching online...in like 2 minutes.... aside from the fun of answering questions, what's the point? i think it's a trap.

As a detail I will say that Yahoo (and whomever else) is, or does scan and recognize every word that filters through Yahoo.com... there are many stupid people out there, and I don't mean the young, or ignorant... and there are many people out there who may be very intelligent, and may like to talk...

They ask questions that have been asked a thousand times for the same reasons: laziness and stupidity.

The ironic and moronic thing is, the time it takes to post a question and to wait for a reply is many times longer than the time it would take to type a few words into a search engine. The same newbies and nincompoops who don't know how to use a search engine are the same nitwits who "think" there is only one web browser, or that Lose-Doze is the only operating system.

There is one caveat that saves some of those bunglers from the hell reserved for stupid people: the "search" function for yahoo answers is pathetically bad. I know from experience when looking up old answers I've given (3000+) for links that I posted and want to retrace. The yahoo *screech* engine allows no more than *one* keyword, and on top of that, and results are blocked out by inane advertisements.

My guess is that some people get a bigger kick out of asking a question guaranteed to start filling their in-box, than answering a tough question with a well thought-out and helpful answer. That said, (and given that this whole thing is a bit of a game) I cannot be arsed to answer cheap questions for a measly two points. (EG: "I dunno"). I try and concentrate on getting best answers and enjoying the sometimes nice things that people say when they select your answer as the most helpful or appropriate.

Speak the good word brother. I'm with you 100%. I take every question asked with a grain of salt and try to give as bullshit an answer as i think the question deserves.

if they can be looked up on the web maybe people don't know where to look at want advise from people who have had a similar situation, others may also want to start a debate or recieve advice. if you think that it is so pointless why do you post questions?

It is good to get different points of view. There is not a perfect answer. If you dont ask how can you learn.I am not worried about traps because I have nothing to hide and I am going to heaven when I leave earth because Jesus assured me of that when i accepted Him in my heart. So it does not really matter when He takes me.
