Some say at conception, some say when the fetus has a brain, some say when there is a beating heart, and others say at birth. What is a logical way of looking at this?

It is common knowledge that there is a maximum sustainable population for this planet. It has been common knowledge since the 70's that environmental impact is a function of population, affluence and technology (I=PAT), with population being the biggest contributor, since everyone eats and drinks, defecates and urinates, requires resources and shelter. The logical way to reduce environmental impact is to reduce population (P) to sustainable levels. This method keeps individual quality of life (A and T) high, but somewhere in the 1980's this was abandoned in favor of reducing individual impact (reducing A and T from the formula), thus lowering individual quality of life. Why is ever expanding population and lower quality of life now considered acceptable by both liberals and conservatives? When environment first became an major issue in the sixties, it was the left that was concerned about unchecked population expansion and lower quality of life. What happened? Thoughts?

i saw a special on 20/20 on who gives more during the holidays? I give when ever I can. I am not rich by no means..I am a single mother 4 boys, but only 2 of them live with me know..they other 2 are grown up and out in the world make it there own..When I see a kettle or a donation cup..I donate when ever it allows me..I was with my wealthly aunt one day..she almost had a heart attack, she couldn't believe I gave my spare change to the needy..He reaction got me startled..Who gives me..?? According to the TV series 20/20..the poor..yep me.. I don't give to make anyone else feel bad, I give cause maybe one day, I'll need that change..woukld you give me that spare change in your pocket ?

That they are just seeing as a burden to the pockets of their families?
I consider old people to be very valuable cause they carry decades of life experience, I think that just the fact that they took care of us in our younger years and keep taking care of us by giving us wise advice they should be highly valued. It makes me sick when they are put in asylums because they are an ecomonic burden :( , I understand some people honestly cant take care of them, but to be put away just because their value as human beings is measured by how much they contribute to society???? That is sickening.

There's been some guy posting anti-christian and highly sexual questions, thing is his picture/aviator has a male penis in another man's butt. How can they let pictures like that be on this sight. There is another one who has an aviator of what appears to be child porn and I saw an answerer with a vagina aviator. This is offensive and not fun. What can be done about it. Fifty years ago, even ten for that matter, there was a much lower percentage of fat people. Do you think people are fatter today because of advertising, fast food, lack of willpower, lack of exercise, chemical pollution, unnatural foods, stress or what?

Obviously some people are overweight because of medical conditions, but they are a small minority. For most of us, there is some other reason. I'd appreciate your thoughts. What do you think?

My husband and I are travelling cross country but there are times we "snap" at eachother and get on one anothers nerves.

We have been driving a lot I have a bad cold and I have been crabby. My husband is fining me for a dollar every time I curse when the trip gets frustarting.

I have just got a 'violation' notice thingy from Yahoo for suggesting a woman with large feet should go to the clown shop to buy some shoes, it's not like I told her to go f@ck herself. Why are oversensitive people opening themselves up for abuse on a global stage such as this?
