Some say at conception, some say when the fetus has a brain, some say when there is a beating heart, and others say at birth. What is a logical way of looking at this?

Whatever your heart tells you. It's different for every person I guess. I say at conception though.

In a perfect world, each person would be free to answer that question for him or herself. However, we have a society of people that want to make their beliefs the law of the land.

I don't remember which comedian said this joke, but it made me laugh: He said he believes in the Jewish view of abortion, that the fetus isn't a human being until it gets into medical school. (I'm Jewish, by the way... try to resist the temptation to call me antisemitic)

In my opinion and belief, a person is a person when he or she is born and can exist outside of the mother's body.
