SAO PAULO, Brazil (Nov. 16) -- A 21-year-old anorexic model who weighed only 88 pounds has died of generalized infection, a hospital said.
Ana Carolina Reston, who had worked in China, Turkey, Mexico and Japan for several modeling agencies, died Tuesday, according to Sao Paulo's Servidor Publico Hospital.

The model's cousin, Dani Grimaldi, told the Estado de Sao Paulo newspaper that Reston also battled bulimia; an eating disorder marked by binge eating that is followed by vomiting or the use of laxatives.

The world of high fashion and modeling has long been targeted by critics who say it encourages women and girls to emulate rail-thin models.

In September, a Spanish fashion show responded to such criticism by banning models with a body mass index of less than 18. Body mass index is a calculation doctors normally apply to study obesity, and anyone with an index below 18.5 is considered underweight.

Is there a clear and present danger emulating from the world of modeling?

From Your Bunny-Bear

The One I Love

I'm Sat Here Alone, Deep In Thought,
Where Did I Go Wrong? We Never Fought!

Time Was Required,
You Needed Some Space
To Sort Out Your Feelings,
To Think And Embrace

I Fell For You Quick,
I Fell Hard And Deep
With My Head In My Hands
I Just Lay Here And Weep

Starting Out, We Had Good Fun
To Where You'd Be, I Would Run
Like A Child At Christmas, You Brightened My Day
Here In My Arms Is Where I Wish You Had Stayed

Holding You Tight, While You Slept,
I Knew The Truth, But Failed To Accept
The Love Was There, But For Me It Not Be,
I Knew All Along, That You Loved Danny

could anyone tell me a short, inspirational story (possibly with a moral)? it doesn't have to be a true story (its actually better if its not) and it can't be one of aesop's fables. i will be choosing about 2-3 of these stories and using them for a presentation i have at school. its just called 'thought for the day' so i decided on inspirational stories. help!!!

Is that often something useful most people can learn and apply fairly, or is it more often a tool for rationalizing personal paranoias? Are you reading between the lines and finding the truth or exaggerating what wasn't directly said? What about the in between lines that may be from errors and not itended?

My bias on this is, I will admit, that reading between the lines is an inherently flawed technique that is best used with great caution.

What do you think?

It used to be male celeb sex symbols for women were men like Sean Connery and Tom Selleck - men who had body hair and really looked like men. It appears recently the male sex symbols are almost feminine - smooth bodies, perfect hair. I guess what they call metrosexuals. This also seems to coincide with the recent rash of mature women of this age range having sexual affairs with young teenage boys - males who have not fully become men. Just curious.

our religious beliefs should be close in our hearts. we should learn to tolerate with one another no matter how different. no need for offending each other.be good people no matter what religion or non. peace, harmony, friendship. doesnt anyone agree with me? There's nothing that can't be done
If we raise our voice as one.

Why is it that some men cannot look you directly in the eye when speaking with you? They always seem nervous and look away or down when I speak with them. I am attractive and have really pretty eyes (so I'm told). Is it because they are shy, insecure or a combination of both? I am single and 99% of the men in my workplace are married. I would never have any interest in any of them because I have a steady boyfriend. What gives here anyway with them not looking you in the eye?

Why is it that when you're running late for work, you always get all the red lights, get stuck behind the slowest drivers, and can never find a parking space. But when you leave early, you always get the green lights and you always end up getting there so early.
Does my luck just suck? Does this happen to you?

Arkansans don't wear shoes, date their relatives, all live in mobile homes, are poor, and uneducated? Supposedly there are still people all around that believe this. Why do we still have such a bad rep? I see questions on here all the time concerning this (e.g.: q: What to do for fun in AR? a: Hang out at Wal-Mart.) We have one of the top Universities around (Harding). We deserve more respect and people need to lean that the times have changed! Nothing mentioned above is true!

Since Thanksgiving is coming this time of year I become a better samaritan, than I was in the whole year and it started this week. I helped someone off the highway, paid for a gas can, gas, and drove her back to the highway and put gas in her car. I helped a 15 yr old walking home in the cold by welcoming her into my car and taking her home. I feed the homeless, I donate money to CHKD, and do my best to give Thanks. What do you do? You don't have to be a millionaire to donate money. I'm nowhere near that.

do you mean that literally (that we are all the same but with different shades) or do you admit there is a cultural difference as well?

I ask because there are a lot of racial Q's in this section and alot of the answers result in saying something that the only difference is skin colour.
