My Dad was right - people change as they age. There are some things I was sure I would never do, but now I am doing them.

Things like changing my voting affiliation totally (why say from what to what and start an argument?). Or finding myself listening to country music (I was a big new wave fan). Or doing everything I can to avoid going to the mall, after spending years of my life hanging around there. Like not knowing (or caring) what's on TV. Or preferring a quiet few days at home to a vacation far away.

father(Charlotte's Web) who takes his seven or eight year old son to the same lake in Maine that his father brought him to many years ago. I liked it as a 19 year old student, but I have grown to appreciate it as a father. It is about realizing one's own mortality. There is a point in the essay where the author can't tell if he is the father or the son, the two get joined together in remembering the past. As his son puts on his soggy water drenched swimming trunks he understands that the years have passed by and that he is that much closer to dying. It is a bittersweet recollection. Have you ever had the experience as a parent of taking your son or daughter back to a place where you used to go, but realizing that the years have gone by and that you can't recapture the past? Why is the word "a" deleted with a star? What kind of a letter purge is this. Is the letter "B" next. Is this Yahoo's version of Fahrenheit 451?

I used to be able to name every nut that there was. And it used to drive my mother crazy, because she used to say, "Harlan Pepper, if you don't stop naming nuts," and the joke was that we lived in Pine Nut, and I think that's what put it in my mind at that point. So she would hear me in the other room, and she'd just start yelling. I'd say, "Peanut. Hazelnut. Cashew nut. Macadamia nut." That was the one that would send her into going crazy. She'd say, "Would you stop naming nuts!" And Hubert used to be able to make the sound, he couldn't talk, but he'd go "rrrawr rrawr" and that sounded like Macadamia nut. Pine nut, which is a nut, but it's also the name of a town. Pistachio nut. Red pistachio nut. Natural, all natural white pistachio nut.

How many of you think that the Earth can just indefinitely survive unlimited amounts of crap being dumped into the oceans, poured into the ground, and burned into the air? How many of you think that there is nothing we can do to harm the Earth in any serious way? How many of you think that any environmental restrictions of any kind are just a bunch of BS that needlessly restrain the economy?

I'm hoping that there are fewer of you than I think there are. But it seems to me that a lot of people are really lax and indifferent about this.

I mean, they should change the drinking age to 18 or 19. U can't even get beer or liquor at that age, but you can get a free plane tickets to iraq or wherever uncle sam wants to send u if ur in the military. Shouldnt they change the drinking age?

You treat a gal nice, she think otherwise. She can touch you, but you better your hands to yourself. Sad to say, my own conclusion is, some people especially Asian is still not so receptive on opposite sex being best of mates. Or we Asian super dirty minded all along and superb imaginative. (couple with gossiping as a main choice of hobby)
