Sometimes it's a fashion statement, but baseball caps have a very useful design. They're comfortable and unobtrusive and do a great job of shielding your eyes from the sun. That's why baseball players wear them. :-)

Ditto to as people wearing Sports shoe when they are not playing.
It's fashion statement, you can were anything anywhere anytime, if its in fashion. We see people buying torned, rugged, over dyed & faded jeans, which are more expensive than the neat looking jeans.
