i don't know if peter f is trying to prove your point...
before i continue I note the whole spanking thing. I got spanked when i was little because I did little things that were bad, so i got afraid and lied because everyone seemed upset. Then i got spanked. The only thing i ever got out of spanking was a vehement hate for my father. I do not condone spanking, but i condone discipline.
This question is rather rude and uncaring. It's not fair to make generalizations of all young people. I'm 16, I give advice, and I stand up for what I believe in. I try to see both sides of an issue, finding answers to questions which i could not answer. I aspire to be a psychiatrist, I have hopes and dreams. My parents have no control over my thoughts, which allows me to freely express them here. If my parents did have control of my thoughts I would be in agony.
I Value my friends over my family because my family does not value me. I am only rude when I intend to be blunt, to answer someone who may have asked a cruel or unwise question. I care too much. There are often times where I tried so hard to be caring and i was shut down. Teens get tormented too. It's unfair to believe that you are the only one who suffers.
And I swear, if you still think I'm awful, despite the fact that I'm a liberal catholic, going to mass regularly, being involved in a youth group that helps my community, that I'm in my school's ecology club, which i'll be in charge of soon, that I try not to impose my beliefs on anyone and believe in peace and equality, that I see racism, prejudice and hate coming from adults and many leaders that adults elected, that I live in a world so controlled by fear that people avoid visiting friends and family, That despite all the crap in the world, i still try and be a good person, then go ahead and say all young people are rude, uncaring, and awful. I won't believe it, and you shouldn't either

I dont think all young people are rude and uncaring and awful. I believe that we cannot look at the outward apperence we have to look to god. If you look into the life of one of those young people you are speaking about how do you know if they have food to eat, that the father is not beating the mother at home, they are homeless, they dont have no one to stand up for them they may not know the love christ they may not have any one to tell them that they love them it could be many reasons why they dont care . Instead looking on the outside try and see if you can reach one and change will come I think you may never look on them that way again remember long ago one parent work now in most home both parents work and they dont even have time to spend with their children because the bills come first. Ask god to give you a heart of compassion towards them.

Permissive parents that have indulged them and allowed them to be self-centered. (These parents are products of the permissive 60's/70's counterculture).
The problem: they will have to learn hard lessons in how to treat people and be mannered later in life, which can cause greater difficulty than if they learned it while they are young.
I am a teacher and require manners and personal respect as much as anything in the classroom, and pretty much all teachers do. But it is a battle because the don't get the same message at home.
And, a very small percentage go to church - or are raised going to church. You get a clear message of values and love there that that no other place has.
And no, not all kids show this. There really are quite a few who are respectful and kind toward adults and one another.
Good question.

I do not want to diss on anybody. Not all kids are rude, uncaring and awful. However I have ran into my fair share of them. Now days if parents try to crack down too hard the child has the right to call CPS and report them for abuse. Alot of parents also believe that you should not spank their children, which has led to alot of unruly children. I firmly believe what God said and that is Spare the rod, spoil the child. The butt is made to be used for discipline. It stings but causes no physiacl harm. The other factor that I feel has led to alot of unruly children, isd the rate at which they are trying to grow up and are actually maturing faster.
When my oldest was 14 & 15 he could get summer work which helped to keep him out of trouble. It is hard for youth today to get summer work unless you know someone who knows someone. There are alot of factors these are a few that I feel contribute to the decline of our youth today.

It's a rite of passage to test the limits and boundaries of manners, good taste, and rules.
Most will grow out of it, many were taught better and are "slumming" it on the Internet, some are really just that rude and uneducated.
The Internet allows all of us a huge degree of anonymity to do with as we choose.

that's how the immature young infants are. i like to tell them some thing. Like one time this female reported "i prefer to sneak out blah blah blah.. help?" and that i defined to her that one time this boy sneaked out from his homestead, left the window open, and a guy went interior the homestead by way of that window and murdered all his family individuals, the toddler did no longer locate out til the morning while he questioned why no person 'have been given up'. Boy, did his existence get ruined.

It's the nature of the beast. In todays world, children have
everything handed to them, and they don't have to do anything for
anything. It's not thier fault.
Also, the constant threat of Judgement Day and punishment in Hell, weighs heavily on thier young minds.

perhaps their upbringing has been slighted
many children experience bad things in their lives while others don't have a mom or dad that cares about them
this is the end result--their attitudes of not caring at all
often times they may take action, but sometimes that is their cry for help

I'll tell you why. Because there are no consequences for bad behavior. Parents are afraid to discipline and I've noticed because of this most teens run the family not the parents. It makes me sick.
