You treat a gal nice, she think otherwise. She can touch you, but you better your hands to yourself. Sad to say, my own conclusion is, some people especially Asian is still not so receptive on opposite sex being best of mates. Or we Asian super dirty minded all along and superb imaginative. (couple with gossiping as a main choice of hobby)

Very possibility I am staying in the wrong continental. Gossip has been the bane of her, and it does affect our previous close relationship. Going out together and I do feel comfortable in her companionship. She starts to believe the rumors – I have idea on her, though I treat her with respect due, and keep my physical distance. Her close friend and young brother believe I have my motive too which may confuse her. I believe I still care for her, even after she starts calling me nasty names. Sadly only time will prove my genuine friendship. I have no such problem with my old school female mates, maybe they have the mentality, well if I wanted to court them, I will have done it already.

what's the extreme for the guy to goes when he acknowledge someone as "god-sister"?
When she is sickm do you buy porridge, bak kwa or bread - travel 2hours to pass her that? "Forced" her at 3am to pass you her laptop which she can't fix herself (she can't go bed when she did something halfway), and you fix it for her?

Sure, it is possible. I do agree with you that most asian mentality is that a gay and a lady shouldn't be too close coz it invite gossip on both of you. But I feel that most of the time the one being affected more is the lady especially those have bf or married ones. These ladies may worried that when their partnersheard this type of gossip, it will damaged their relationship. So as a result these ladies tends to avoid you once they have heard this type of gossip. As a guy once the ladies have this tendency to avoid you, it actually signal something to us. Being a good friend of her, we should also take her feeling into consideration. In this way we are still able to maintain our friendship without affecting the ladies relationship as well.

In some cases Yes, however in other cases No. It really depends on the two people. My best freind is a guy and we have a wonderful friendship, but it doesnt always work this way. It boil's down to are you True Friends. A True Friend would never do or say anything to hurt you. But we tend to call everyone that we know a Friend and that Just isn't the case.

It's completely possible for the opposite sex to be just friends. I have a guy friend with whom I am very close with & there is NOTHING sexual between us at all...there never has been & never will be. In fact, the thought just grosses us out! I'm like a sister to him & he's like the brother I never had (I only have sisters)....sometimes we'll even argue & get on each other's nerves as if we were brother & sister!

Of course you can be friends with the opposite sex. Just that some girls are subject to stereotypes and sadly believe that a guy only wants to be friends so he can get into your pants. Alot of girls think this way and it's because of some guys out their who do this which gets guys like you a bad strerotype when you only want to be a friend. It's just the way the world runs i guess.

Possible! If both parties are respectful of each other. Anyway, the usual case has either party initiate calling the other "god-brother"or "god-sister" to clear things up and draw the line. This, I gather, is a unique Asian thing.

It is indeed possible, as I have number of examples from among my friends.....but sadly as you rightly put all these friends live either in Europe or in USA. It is another thing that most Asian feel there is no possibility of pure friendship between a male and a female.

I think they can although some people dont think so. Its mainly with the guys (at least those av met) they always want to be touchy or have such relationships, yet the gal may be interested in being ones friend. I had this online friend n he wanted to hav a relationship, tld him that i was already in a rltnship but was interested in being his friend, n then he got angry with me and said he didnt want to be a friend so we stopped cmnctng th i was willing to be a friend. so ..........

From a personal points of view I thinks that is impossible to a guy and a girl to be the best of friend without thinking on sex. Girls are just hard to resit to the males. If you look a girl from first contact most of them are sexy. so it is impossible for most men to deeds with.

Its not an asain problem, its just that the westerners are comfortable with sleeping around while we don't. We asians are more responsible in this sense, if we sleep we sb we know, we make them our spouse, the westerners call it a fling and they maintain their frenship.
