I mistakenly used some english words in front of an audience, and found out later that some of the words are considered (by new generation) offensive. I'm going to an all inclusive resort in Mexico this weekend. I am pretty good at Spanish. I was just wondering if it was rude to speak Spanish to the employees. I know I'm in Mexico but most people speak to them in English. Just wondering.

I was wondering what the LITERAL translation of the word "Fuhrer", with the 2 dots over the "u", is.

I know it's what Hitler was called by Nazi party members.

Did the Nazis coin the phrase, or was it a word in circulation prior to Hitler's rise to power? Is it still in use today?
