First, do you write it rather Padraig or Padraic ? I know it means Patrick in English but do you prefer the Irish first name or the English one ?

ok, how come sometimes when I say words they come out with a british accent? I'm not even British. I'm Italian and Irish, German, Indian, and a bunch of other things. But not, British.
I watch Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, and some british movies like those (well, movies that are american but the people in them talk british). i like the way british people talk. It's so cool. Yet, I speak ENGLISH. What's going on?

what do you call your friends?
I'm Japanese learning English.
A friend of mine calls me' my boy' what exactly does it mean?
Sometimes he also calls me' my man'
I always tend to translate English into Japanese. I know it is a bad habit. but when I hear 'my' , it seems like possession.......
So my question, 'my boy' 'my man'= friend?
And what do you call your friends instead of saying their names. especially close friends. It would be a good learning chance here for me. thanks in advance.

I spent 10 years of my life in the French system but ever since I got out of it and transferred to regular English I been forgetting my French. I still know how to speek it but it takes me time to warm up and the spelling is almost gone. I wish to use these skills in future employment but I fear that time has done it's part and that now there is no time to catch up on the more advanced matters such as proper spelling and proper use of word that you just can't directly translate into English by dictionary. Apart form regular daily exercises is there anything else I could do to regain my French witch was actually the first language I learned to speak. Details please? Thank You
