Try your local university or college: if it teaches Italian there might be a group that meets to chat in the language, or you could put a notice up saying you'd like to chat with someone every so often in Italian (you could try the same at a language school for people learning English: you'll need to spend some time speaking english in exchange for the Italian, of course).
If you want to chat on the internet, try Yahoo.it! They have the same chat as your Yahoo 360: just go to http://it.docs.yahoo.com/chat/chat.html Say that you've just started and people will try to help, I'm sure.
