I have seen some people in the news referring to the United States with "She". I am not a native English but I don't understand how to name genderless nouns (such as countries, objects etc) with "He" or "She"! Could you please explain the rule with few examples.

Bonjour! i was wondering about these words, like what they mean. i looked them up in my french english dictionary but i could find these few phrases.
~Il y a de eclairs. (btw, the e in eclairs has an accent aigu)

Apparently saying "mi hermana y yo" is incorrect when I'm trying to say my sister and I. It has something to do with changing the y to something else, but what?
