A Yankee is someone from north of the Mason-Dixon line in the United States. The term isn't much in use in the US anymore.
Best to specify if you're addressing non-Americans if your intention is to learn about how folks around the world view Americans.

Usually around 6' tall, athletic, clean-shaven, wearing pinstripes and a ballcap. They will be distinguishable by the stylized "NY" on the uniform and the ballglove on one hand.

ha! that's a funny question, i grew up in the north east (like almost canada!) and a yankee to me is someone who knows what they know and thinks what they think and there ain't no changing their minds.
wears flannels, blue collar, hard-worker...solid character...loyal.
