Who did tell you that this is incorrect??
It is not. Mi hermana y yo is pretty well.
We use it that way, and you wrote it correctly
Even.the 2 Y together, havent the same sound...
If anyone tells you that it is incorrect, only ask him/her if they dont know the book from a great spanish writer called Juan Ramón JÃmenez. That book is
PLATERO Y YO
Buena suerte.

Psycho Dork. The translation for "My sister and I" is "Mi hermana y Yo". The translation for "and" is "y". My first tongue is Spanish.

You can use "y" or "e"... I don´t see anything wrong using the "y" just if you use another "i" ( in spanish) in the begining you need to use "e" like "Mi hermana e Ilse"

That's actually the correct way... I don't see anything wrong that...
y = and
Also, I was always thaught that you put your self last...
(ex: ellos y yo... Jose, Maria y yo)
You only use e instead of y when the first letter of the following word is i or makes the sound of i
(ex: el reporte e investigacion..., Mariana e Yvette (some people spell it like that...))

What you have is perfectly correct. The only
rule about "y" is that it changes to e before i and hi.
Hope that clears up the confusion!
