A lot of people say learning a foreign language helps you compete in the corporate world. In particular, Arabic, Chinese and Spanish are supposed to be the important langauges that will be in high demand over the next decades. Now I'm skeptical of this because the most educated people in other countries learn English, and you could be doing something else with your time. But is there something I'm overlooking? Have YOU PERSONALLY benifetted from learning a foriegn language, and if so, how?

This book is titled "Communication Concepts, Agenda-setting". I'm having some trouble translationg "issue proponents" in this sentence (i don't even know what it means):

What is agenda-setting? The agenda-setting process is an ongoing competition among issue proponents to gain the attention of media professionals, the public, and policy elites.

thanks for your time! :)

Very interesting, I think. Why do the English and Canadians spell words like this, "labour", "favourite", "realise", etc? While Americans spell "labor, favorite, realize?" both are totally accepted I think, but I'd like to find out where/why this came about.

I'm trying out for the part of Mrs. Meers (a fake chinese lady) in our school musical, thoroughly Modern Millie, this year, and I need to figure out how to fake a chinese accent. So far, I know that I need to turn my Ls into Rs. What else do you need to do to create a fake chinese accent? The more obvious the better. It doesn't need to be authentic, just distinctive. The cheesier the better.
