It might seem a stupid question or a stereotype but could anyone tell me why an american travelling in europe can only speak english and usually get upset if is not understood? IWhy don't you try to post a question at "answers Italy" and see how many reply you will get..? OK, you may not give a sh... about Italy but it is worth to try, right? Se faccio la stessa domanda in italiano chi di voi risponderebbe, forse solo gli italo americani?

I've seen this expression in the movie JFK (Joe Pesci's character says it), on The Simpsons, and most recently, on Will and Grace. Where did it come from, and what is the proper way to say it?

I intern under someone who fixes computers for a living. I believe that'd make me his apprentice.

I get paid, but only from clients he sends me to, otherwise my pay is lessons for doing this or that.

What is he, paying attention that master has a bad meaning nowadays. Mentor can as well, so I avoid both words.

Suggestions, or do I just use master, and explain why?
