in the world?? well,, that's probably a chinese word, but if you mean the most widely used ENGLISH word, then the answer is "you" (according to this study: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Wiktionary:Frequency_lists/TV/2006/1-1000).
if you go on wiktionary and type in basic words, it should tell you their ranks. by doing it that way though, "you" is only in 17th place and the #1 word is "the".

Well, the word I use most often is ****. I know it in about 25 different languages too. Sorry it was blanked out. It's a 4 letter word which rhymes with wit. It's brown, steaming, and not very nice to eat. Git me?

All the people in the religion section use it as a basis for their arguments all the time, and obviously don't know what it means.
