-Thank you.

Please write the phrases in Irish and teach me how to pronounce please.

I know how I would say it LITERALLY, but I know a lot of times in Spanish, phrases don't translate exactly. I.E. "El hijo de la gata, ratones mata." Like father, like son. Literally, "The son of the cat kills mice."

Thanks!

My cousin is deaf. She and I have pretty much grown up together, since she is only about 8 months older. She is a very intelligent, college educated woman. I often think about her aquisition of language, and I can understand how she could pick up signing, but what about reading and sounding out unfamiliar words? I mean no disrespect to the deaf community, I have just always wondered.

Bipolar Disorder Runs in the Family

Bipolar disorder, the mental illness once known as manic depression, is brought about by a chemical imbalance in the brain that sends patients from one emotional extreme to the other, from delusions of grandeur, motormouth and, as one writer put it, buying an airplane to deep despair. They can also suddenly become angry or suspicious, or obsessed with sex

What does "buying an airplane to deep despair" mean in this article?
Is it a English idiom?

Wating for your help.

What's the Irish-Gaelic word for 'emerald'?

I know that Ireland is sometimes called the Emerald Isle....Is it possible that Carrigglas, which I've heard is one of the old names for Ireland, doesn't necessarily have anything to do with emeralds? When you translate the word literally, all you see is 'rock' and 'green'...so I'm wondering if maybe that's not so such a comparison with emeralds as it is a way of pointing out the rocky, green environment of Ireland, and the name 'Emerald Isle' just sort of got suggested directly from that...?

What do they call an emerald out in the gaeltachts, anyway...? ;)

I'm not just talking about Britain but any country that speaks english.

I personally can't stand the southern american accent. It makes people sound unintelligent even if they are actually smart.
