There is American slang and then there's local American slang depending on what area of the country you live in and what cultural groups you live in.
I think it would be very difficult to learn all the different American slang from a book or a classroom.

not really bc they change so often and parents of english kids do not even know half of the slang their kids say mean so i would have to say no.
