With only an intro college class in spanish expierence, but the oppurtunity to live with a family in Peru? Just living with the family,social interaction, and some self study.

I am only part gringo, the family in Peru that I will stay are my family, my uncle and my cousins.

Well, if you are going to be sorrounded by spanish speakers and in a spanish culture, around 3 or 4 months.
I´m a Spanish tutor and it´s my first language, that´s my prediction...Good Luck, espero que disfrutes tu estadia en Peru...Hope you like your visit to Peru...

It depends your intelligence, your discipline, and willing to learn.
But If you have more words and concepts for what u know commonly in English u will open your mind and your brain will start working... Turn off the TV and learn a second language! Don't be a lazy gringo!

It sounds ideal. A few months should do the trick.Take a
good Spanish English dictionary and WRITE DOWN the
new words that you learn DO NOT RELY on memory

are u a fast learner if u are 3-4 weeks if ur not 2-3 months

it really depends on how devoted you are to the material and if you're a quick learner or not... but it will happen, just don't get frustrated when it gets difficult, you will surpass it!
