My DIL is 100% Irish and loves every part of it. Sadly last year while we were out for a late St Pat's day dinner, their home burned to the ground taking a dog and two cats. They have not been able to have children so the four legged kind were their babies. It was just devastating and I know the anniversary of the fire is going to be tough. I'm trying to think of ways to make the day more special so they can enjoy it again. We are going to see Riverdance on the Wednesday night before but I'm at a loss as to other things that might help. I will invite them to a family dinner with all the traditional stuff like Corn Beef and Cabbage and Irish Soda Bread but other than that what can I do? This has always been a fun day as we have the Irish on our side too, my grandpa being a Ryan. Any help will be appreciated.

Ever hear that saying "everyone's Irish on St Patrick's Day"?

Did you ever look into the history of Irish in the early Americas?

This day was originated from and for the Irish to show their pride after being enslaved and degrated. Irish were actually used to do jobs that were to low for Africans to do.
I don't go around in Feb and jokingly say, "Im part African". Why can't the Irish have a real celebratory holiday?
I am not racist. I am just saying why can't the Irish or any other culture have a respected day of observence? Just a day, let a lone a whole month...?
This is a question of opinion, I know there are alot of them out there, so bring it on. FYI I will not waste my or your time in rebuttle.
