Just watching Rare Visions on PBS and a musuem in Idaho that was full of all kinds of fun and weird things--have you ever visited any really strange and wonderful off the beaten path places? (Branson and Silver Dollar City don't count!)

We do eat some things that seem a little out of the mainstream, but are really good. Like buffalo meat--low cholesterol, lean, and really better flavor than beef. And you cook it just like beef, only the steaks need to be more rare because it will get tough if it is cooked too long. I had a roast that needed to be cooked because the food in the freezer thawed when our power was off--and it made the best pot roast you could ever eat! And ground buffalo makes the very best chili.

We also eat things like miso soup and tahini, and I have learned to cook vegan for my daughter and her family. Any body else have any non-mainstream foods in their diet?

with community and/or general hospitals. I read that critics say that when doctors steer patients to a hospital they own, it gives them an incentive to put profits above the patient, generally admitting patients who are not severely ill, and see fewer people (i.e., poor or uninsured) on Medicaid. They are left to the other hospitals to deal with. Is this the wave of the future for hospital business?

First of all, my father told me that in France that some hospitals are free for patients. He said there was a system behind it. I'm curious how those hospitals giving free medical service to patients get their money

Post ice storm which knocked out our electicity for 6 days, put a tree limb thru the roof of the back porch, and took out a couple of trees and a LOT of limbs, I'm looking around and thinking that we may have gotten our porch damaged, but we did need a new roof on it and now the insurance will pay for it: we lost a huge limb from an elm, but now there will be more sun to the herb garden, which really did need it. I found a buffalo roast in the ref freezer, which I had lost track of, and it sure was good, because it was thawed and I had to cook it. I got a lot of yard work done and leaves raked, since I already had a fire going burning fallen branches. All that work kinda got me back in shape after slacking off this fall, lol! Do you look for the silver lining in what could be perceived as disasters?

Seems the over 65 crowds are being prosecuted for shoplifting. Also, assaults by older people rose to 1,700 from 100. They think it is due to isolated older people who do not socialize. Kind of reminds me of that Andy Griffith story about the old man that was trying to get arrested so he could join their Christmas festives. Do you think this is happening in America or other countries?

It might appear that I am looking for sympathy-but I'm not. I just found out today that my brother-in-law (whom I have known and loved for 20 years) was just sentenced yesterday to 438 years for rape from a trial earlier this year. He is supposed to go to trial next year on 94 counts of murder and kidnapping. No I am not joking. How do you deal with something like this? Even in hindsight I can see nothing that makes me think he could actually do this. What can I say to my sister? She believes completely in his innocence and luckily there are no children.

When I say this I believe we all have our own personal spiritual guide. To many its an Angel, to me it’s a guide whom I refer to as my Teacher. We, my guide and myself have been together throughout time. I am allowed to bring back the information he deems necessary for me to have at the time. My Guide or Angel looks like a Monk that is thousands of years old, I can only see his hands as he wears a cowl or a monks robe, and we are always sitting at an old table, like a picnic table only thousands of years old. It’s truly amazing!

My friend is 61 and mostly retired. He was debating about starting to collect Social Security early at age 62. I know the benefits are less but I heard that they will be recalculated when his wife retires. She earns as much now as he ever did. How does this work?

The new inmate at the mental hospital announced in a loud voice that he was the famous British naval hero, Lord Nelson. This was particularly interesting, because the institution already had a "Lord Nelson."

The head psychiatrist, after due consideration, decided to put the two men in the same room, feeling that the similarity of their delusions might prompt an adjustment in each that would help in curing them. It was a calculated risk, of course, for the two men might react violently to one another, but they were introduced and then left alone and no disturbance was heard from the room that night.

The next morning, the doctor had a talk with his new patient and was more than pleasantly surprised when he was told "Doctor, I've been suffering from a delusion. I know now for a fact that I am not Lord Nelson."

"That's wonderful," said the doctor. "Who are you?"

Smiling coyly, the patient replied, "I'm Lady Nelson."
