I have grew up in a family that had ALOT of problems. There has been incest, child abuse, spousal abuse, drug problems and I can keep going on. I didnt come from a good family.

The common thing I have noticed amongst other black families that I grew up around is that they will constantly sweep their issues under the rug. When I told my grandma I was molested she told me not to tell anyone. I knew that was wrong.

My grandmother said in Alabama black girls would get raped but they wouldnt tell anybody. She said its better to keep your mouth shut about family problems and other issues.

Can someone please give me some insight? Why do black people sweep their problems under the rug?
This is not in my head and I have seen this more than once. There is probably a very good explanation for this.

I put a question asking about advice on working on malaysia .

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071218010444AADmfW9

unfortunately the replies were rather hostile and rude. with the recent disputes and issues with the hindraf and LTTE in malayisa. the malayisan ppl are being hostile towards all indians. thats acceptable.

i'm a sri lankan. just because our country is close to indian doesnt mean we are anything like indians. its a common misunderstanding. only thoe who have been to sri lanka will know. by race i'm a malay. meaning my ancestors are from malayisa. i look malaysian and speak malay.

sri lanka has been at war with the LTTE for over the past 20 decades. and we hate terrorists just as much.

i feel its very unfair to be treated like this just because my country is close to india. i'm a muslim and i'm a malay. i'm not an indian or a terrorist.

would like to have your ideas and opinions

Did you guys realize in italy if you dont have money the government will change your babies name? What if they did that in america?
So the main question is do you think the government should be able to change babies names??
this is taken from an article

When the boy was about five months old, a city hall clerk brought the odd name to the attention of a tribunal, which informed the couple of an administrative norm which bars parents from giving "ridiculous or shameful" first names to children.

I am just curious, because although this is an English site, I gather that most of the questions and answers are American, so I wonder if who either than myself is living in France.

Girly-Girls vs. Tomboys..... what do you like better?
I will give you the description of a girly-girls and tomboys:

Girly Girls:
1. obsessed with pink
2. shoppings her "sport"
3. popular in school..... and also calling people "geeks" and "nerds" :(
4. spends the whole day looking in the the mirror
5. is rather weaker
6. are usually calling people bad names (sometimes saying real bad things to the tomboys)
7. spreads BAD roomers (those heartless pieces of $#it!!)
8. is jealous that boys want the tomboys, so the girly-girls
spread roomers that they are lesbians (doesn't work) so it backfires on the $#it and $**ts the girly-girls are

Tomboys:
1. likes all colors
2. likes all sports
3. unpopular in school..... hangs with the "geeks" and "nerds"
4. spends the whole day on the computer, watching tv, and playing video games
5. rather stronger
6. does not give a $#it what people thing about them or call them
7. doesn't spread roomers (actually cares about people)

Tomboys Rule!!! ^.^

I really wonder this. I have just watch a local TV program about African tribes which one tribe they describe the women normally do not wear clothes on their top so their breast is shown clearly, even though some wear colourful jewellery it don't cover it. Also on the behind, you can see the buttocks clearly because they wear something which look like thong in back. A different culture I can understand and they accept this dress style. Of course the Africans are also human and will have sex drive. But how can they see this everyday but don't are sexually aroused when unaproprite? I think in most other culture, if people wear like that everyday, many people will have much sexual urge and will create problems.

I have never heard anyone say this in real life , but on the internet i see where people have said that all attractive Black women are biracial. That is a myth and a lie.Women straight out of Africa are just as beautiful as any woman!Take Liya Kebede and Iman for instance.Or even Jessica White,Kenya Moore or even myself.I think that it's racism , prejudice and ignorance and it is really hateful to say something like that. There are so many people out there who seem to devote their lives to tearing African-American/African people down it's really sad and discouraging.I am not biracial and if i must say so myself i've had guys of all races and backgrounds like me and ask me out.Gabrielle Union , Garcelle Beauvais , Meagan Good , Kerry Washington , Sharon Leal , Joy Bryant , Nia Long , Sanaa Lathan , Aisha Tyler and many other Black women are living proof of the falseness of this claim. You'd think it was common sense that all women are beautiful.
