Because you are white. There is a gigantic double standard here. If you even acknowledge race as a white person you are assumed racist by many.
EDIT: Your question was inquisitive and was taken way out of context. Your question left plenty of room for thoughtful responses and debate...most people on the internet don't seem capable of doing that though.

Because of how you say it, you try to make it sound like black people are some how getting special privileges, when they are not. How many white scholarships programs have been in place since the beginning of time, no body complains about that? it seems that anything that blacks have to try to better themselves some white people complain, like it's a crime, you have always had everything in your favor, so what's the problem, whites even complain about a few black themed program on TV, look at the odds compared to white themed shows, it's just ridiculous and petty, get over it.

Well I think everyone believes there are a lot of racist people out there, and when you make comments, no matter how big or small people want to instantly identify that you are one of them. I think the same applies for homophobic people and sexist as well.
Also, people are offended very easily, they want others to take notice of when they are offended and who did it.
I have a rule, I will say something good or bad about any and every race equally, in fact I apply the same to homesexuals, disabled, any and everyone. I treat everyone the same, so I will talk good and bad about you if you are jacked up.
BTW in Brasil -- did you know that when a white person refers to a brown or dark skinned person as 'Nega' which means dark ... its a term of affection.. I guess because there, many are so naturally tanned, you are an exception when you dont tan well...
BTWW... I read your question you asked.. and I think thats a good question. My answer to you is ... suck it up and take it...
Like Chris Rock says, "Why are you mad? You're white. For white people the sky is the limit and for everyone the limit is the sky. There is a one legged white busboy hopping around out there who wouldnt trade places with my black @ss and Im rich!"

I guess it's because people have become over sensitive about it since the civil rights acts etc. and the bar has been raised about politically correctness and now alot of people find crazy things offensive.
Also I come from an Abroiginal/Chinese background so I

Why do you feel the need to make a racially-directed comment at all? If someone or something has pissed you off, why not deal with the direct issue or circumstance, without mentioning what race? If something is a personal issue or isolated incident, race should have nothing to do with it. When you generalize, it makes people wonder whether you have prejudiced motivations.

Well, look back at the situation. Was it one racist comment? Then you deserved it.
Was it an impolite comment that wasn't racist? You probably pissed off a racist, and a big game in racism is to accuse the other person of being racist before they can figure out that you're racist.
If you think it was a perfectly polite comment, look harder because that tag isn't thrown unless you piss somebody off for one reason or another.

Because people are over sensitive these days. No one has any sense of humor and Common sense has been completely eradicated.
The world is full of nothing but Cry babies!!!! As an example just look at some of the other answers you have received.

Q. Why is it that if you make one comment about someone of a different race, you are dubbed racist?
A. I'm all in favour of freedom of expression. That's not the point at all.
Racism lies in one's "intent"and subconscious thoughts. White racists shouldn't be in the illusion that their claims to be anti-racist aren't sensed as false intent by those who're exposed to their hypocrisies on a day to day basis.

your not just based on any comment, i think racism stems from hate and ignorance, most people are taught racism and don't have a legitimate reason for what they say, true racial stereotyping is projected in a hate full and treating manner not just based on comments but again that is where the ignorance of all of it falls into place.

Because you are so uninformed about the available scholarship programs directed to special groups of all kinds, you selected those for Blacks to be upset about.
I don't see you ranting about those for Jewish, Hispanics, men, women, handicapped, underprivileged, business majors, medicine majors, Asians.....etc. You only pointed out those for blacks.
That's why.....
