Does the term liberal just apply to their spending habits with tax payer dollars? Or is it the liberal way that they want to go about controlling the American people from the cradle to the grave? Somebody please define a liberal in the U.S. for me. Be as explicit and thourough as you want. Thank You.

I would say that liberalism has at its foundation

"individual liberty to be the most important political goal"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberals

however when someone or some people decide they want their own interest and abuse of their privileges then naturally the ideal and purpose becomes thwarted
