I know the question is an attention getter, but I am really curious about this. I've been to a lot of pool parties this summer and nearly none of the black guys there knows how to swim. Why is this? Is it because swimming or going to water parks is not what their culture usually does for fun? Please don't take me as a racist, I'm just looking for a logical, non-discriminatory answer.

Is it a double standard to say that it was wrong for the white people to come to America and use the Indians' land but then say it is ok for illegal immigrants to come into our country because whites did it. It is like saying because the whites did a bad thing means that it is ok for anyone to do it.

the question came to mind because someone asked if a persons speaks "ebonics" does that indicate a lack of education. I few people responded that people talk that way because they "do not know how to use 'proper' english."

I don't think this is the case. I certainly know how to use standard english grammar. But does that mean that I have to?

However, my question does not just pertain to language.

it is more likely to make the news than any other person of any race.

With out a trace, the CBS show, had an episode that dealt with this same kind of thing. Two kids a black boy and a white girl went missing. All but the black agent was assigned to work the case of the white girl and the media wouldnt cover the disapperence of the black boy. Why is that? Shouldnt everyones life be viewed as equal?

People who are looking for a reaction out of you? You know the type who pay really close attention to everything you do to critique you, gossip behind your back, attempt to intimidate you, but still acknowledge you in order to see what you're going to do?

As I see it, without slavery most decendents of slaves would still be living in disease and poverty ridden Africa. So it appears that these decendents have actually benefited from their ancestors suffering. No, I am not condoning slavery, but I am questioning why slave decendents feel they have suffered some sort of loss from slavery.

If it was a white guy who had said "Hispanics are easier to control", would the media have responded differently?

Why did one reporter excuse him by saying that it was "ok for Gary Sheffield to make that remark, because hes always been known to spout off at the mouth and besides, theres a little bit of truth to it anyway".

If that was the case, then Imus should have gotten away with his remark because hes always been known to spout off at the mouth.

Where are all the Hispanics out there? Why aren't you rising up and tryint to get Gary Sheffield fired or suspended?

Isn't this the CLEAREST example of media bias that we have seen this year?

If tommorow by some act of divine intervention all people in the US had to start all the way over from scratch( absolutely nothing), each person over the age of 18 with the exact same amount of money and education, how long do you think it would take society to reach the state it is currently in?

*everyone is a blank canvas (18 and over are educationally and financially equal), world history up until yesterday is still exactly the same, but no one has any memory of their personal history. everyone has the same amount of education, i.e all 18yr olds have highschool diploma, all 20 yr olds have associate degrees all 30yr olds have Masters degrees. so on and so forth you get what I mean. Every one is given the same amount of property & $100,000.
*everything is gone( as far as buildings and such, the divine entity is like a store everything you need, you have to get from her and she does not benefit from these sales so prices are moderate)

Here is a statement that was made about Barack Obama:

--"The Rev. Robert Abbott, pastor of the Holy Trinity Baptist Church in Amityville, N.Y., said Obama connects with black audiences because of the preacher's style he uses when addressing them."--

What does Mr. Abbot mean by this? What is the "preacher's style"? Whatever it is, isn't Mr. Abbot using a stereotype of black audiences? Are black people supposed to be more likely than any other group to respond favorably to a "preacher's style"?

I have never used words like "black" or "white" or "asian" to my 4 year old.

In fact, a while back she was showing her dolls to my grandmother (who is kinda backwards in some areas), and two of the dolls are black with pink and purple bodies, and the white one has a blue body. When she offered Grandma a doll, She said "I don't want that one, I want the white one." To which my daughter said "there is no white it's pink ..and this one is purple."

she did not usderstand that white meant the skin color. Should I introuduce these terms to her? She knows there is some difference in apperance, but that is all....

It's like white guys can pick any girl they want.......Black, Asian, White, Indian, Hispanic, Arab, and etc......and have no problems but when it comes to other guys it's like we have to take what we can get..........Why is it that most women fall for white guys? Media influenced perhaps and the idea that white is the standard of beauty in America?
