stereotypes fly around about how black ppl who dont listen to rap 24/7 are somehoe less "black". this is rediculous. both myself and some f my blk friends listen to all kinds of music. i love country, pop, r and b, hiphop/ rap, all kinds of rock, foreign music (mostly latin music), broadway, oldies, etc. and i just want to make one thing clear: RAP MUSIC IS NOT THE ONLY MUSIC THAT PORTRAYS NEGATIVE IMAGES TO SOCIETY. ironically, as with everything else in our world, the music of minority groups seems to attract the most attention. oldies rock groups like the beatles pioneerd the whole drugs plus music = freedom concept and actually encourged using drugs and sex a lot during the later part of their career and this trend continues in all genres. i think that society likes to be ignorant and generalize certain characteristics with minorities so they can simplify cultures and people. what do you think? in your opinion do you stereotype most blk ppl as listening to rap or urban music?
