I believe it is a sort of seizure...Nothing to be afraid of...But, what is actually happening is that your body tenses up for a split second...This will cause a flash, and a noise...
Try, this..Lay down in a dark room...Close your eyes tightly...Hold them tight for a minute or better...You will begin to see white light, and flashes moving around...
This is a less severe reaction to the one that you had to recive the loud bang and flash...

Damn, that happens to me too! I thought I was just a freak (well I am but that's a different story).
I gotta keep checking back here for the answers.

hmmm... the same happens to me, but I live not far from the army unit - I've always thought it was them, not sure about your situation though
