Why is the Indian stock market closed for Good friday while it remains open for Pongal, which is basically an harvesting festival for our farmers. Is anything funny about Indians & their fests !

Stock Market is a net work business in the all India and the International level .If it is open on the Good Friday ( which is an International Holiday) the business will be affected much.
For pongal ( it being a State level Festival) we have a state level holiday for it). Much justice is done to the Pongal Festival also.

That's simple Pongal is celebrated by a small community but Good Friday by almost all countries having christian population. With global economy and investments being done by foriegn financial institutions a lot of changes have come up and so they have to keep this in mind.
Farmers are not daily traders but long term investors and even if they do not see the masrket for one day it will not have a major effect. In INDIA stock market is closed on major festivals which are celebrated in whole country or internationally.

In India so many festivals are there. So I did not know which festival could be celebrated because I believe in all religious. Gudi Padwa,Sharadiya Nava Warsha, Makarshankriti, Pongal, Vishu, Baisakhi, & New Year i.e. first January. So I asked you which is Indian festival.

The stock market can't be kept closed for any State Govt holidays. If it happens then atleast there will be five holidays in a month because every state in India have a Goverment holiday in every month of the year.

India had contained so many languages speaking peoples. Indian peoples are very kindly and courageous. Many festivals are celebrated.
