I do. I get really mad. Because I know we should all be treated fairly and even my other co-workers says so themselves that everyone should be treated fairly so as not to have any tensions at work.

I happened to catch the Oprah show today which was a repeat of "Moms around the world." I was surprised that in the spirit of exposing its audience to different cultures, the show's producers did not do their research on Inuit culture. The term "Eskimo" is widely considered to be offensive here in Canada, especially within the Inuit communities. I was shocked that Mrs. Swisher would blatantly suggest that there was nothing wrong with the term, and it's absoultely fine for anyone to use it. It may be fine for her, and her community, but it certainly isn't for everyone. I believe she was just uninformed about other people's views on the matter, but it was the show's responsibility to portray both sides of such a controversial issue. It would be as if they found a little person somewhere in the country who was fine with the term "midget" and had him tell the world it was okay for everyone to use it in reference to little people.

What do you all think?

I just found out that I am Bohemian Gypsy, but, I don't know anything about my heritage. If someone is out there and willing to help me figure this out, that would be really helpful. All I know is that they are from large families, and practice spritualism, and I have been doing this for a while now. I just need some answers. Please help me.

I feel that I like to talk to women better than men and it is not because I am feminine or gay, I just like the interaction between me and females as opposed to males . ( i find males seem to be wanting to compete with me a lot or "one up me")

Is it same between females?

I see in the news so many times that when a black person is wronged by a white person it is automaticly a hate crime, but it seems that when a white person is hurt due to a black person its not reguarded in the same way. We have a local story inwhich a black man hit three white guys walking into a club, with his car. He was screaming honky and other slurrs while doing it. This would make it a hate crime. Yet he is claiming racism because the cops where white who arrested him. Now does anyone else think the race card had ran its course, and now that its time for us to be equal for real! you now; no special treatment for other races. What do you all think?

I have wrapped up college, and have been wanting to move to Scotland for a long time. However, while I've been living on my own in America for a bit, switching countries and lifestyles would be terrifying to some extent. Originally, the plan was to bunk with a relative - but unfortunately she passed away 2 years ago.

Are there American-friendly areas of Scotland that a foreigner could get an "easier" start? I say Scotland, because of both childhood and my ancestry. My mother was from Edinburgh, but hasn't been back since I was born.

Any advice would be appreciated on both locations, and how to ease the transition. Thank you!

I have a question? Why do Americans call those old churches of California missions?? During our colonial past during the 1500's, 1600's and 1700's, our ancestors founded churches and they are usually named after Saints. But in the records of baptisms our ancestors called our churches "Parroquias." When one is baptized, it would say in records "Baptizado en La Parroquia de (Name of Church). Never "Missions." In latin america, churches are at the center and are still in use. What I love in our villages are the public markets with everyone shopping. Mexican Indians, Mestizos, Spanish looking Mexicans, Mennonites shopping. With the church bells ringing in the background.

Church bells are so nice to hear. Because the whole town can hear it and they usually ring them to alert our people for certain things such as mass, town meetings, the hour and so on.

Those are common in our countries.

I DO NOT MEAN TO OFFEND ANYONE, but don't you think Dominican people are basically black? I mean, I know that they have a BIT of other ancestry, besides black, but every dominican person I've seen just looks black. Based on skin color, hair, eyes, skin (not color, but texture). I LOVE culture in general, but I honestly think Dominicans are basically just black people with a VERY small european ancestry. Some Dominicans just can not face the fact that they're dominantly black. Like, some are even racist towards africans, when they themselves are basically the same thing. What do you think about the Dominican ethnicity? and why are some hostile towards Puerto Ricans? Maybe they're jealous, since Puerto Ricans are dominantly European. lol. and to reiterate, I AM NOT TRYING TO OFFEND ANYONE, I AM JUST HONEST. Please answer with respect, and like an educated person. Thank You
