In the interest of fairness, why do we all have the hypocrite trait?

Well, the Bible says we are all sinners. Now if you have anything wrong with you, you want to hide it. "Hypocrite" means wearing a mask to hide who you really are. We all seek to hide our ugly spots, and try to appear different. It's just that with some people it seems to be more obvious, because they don't do such a good job of it!
The worst kind of hypocrite is the kind that condemns others for the same piece of ugliness he is hiding in himself. But then again, isn't that another form of hiding?
