Struggle To Progress

I know we’ve struggled over the years, over centuries past
But what is the progress? Where is the progress?
Is it that years ago our black people made things happened
Yea there it goes that is the progress
Years ago our own people opened doors for us
They invented light bulbs, made it possible for us to sit in front of the bus, gave us permission to dream, made education accessible for us.
That’s the progress they started years ago for us to continue
But yet we take it all for granted
We hop on buses and head straight for the back, we laugh at education and our dreams are
To beat up that girl that is messing with your man
To ridicule our own selves
And say ***** what, ***** who
We sit in classrooms and make fun of each other or rahter should I say hike on each other and say “***** I was only messing with you”
Messing you, we are messing with our own selves
The struggle has been made and see but the progress, the progress is nowhere to be found its invisble
We send ourselves to prison, to the graves, to welfare offices. Yea there it goes that is our progress, it’s the progress I have seen made.
We never ever come together on something positive.
Instead we hate on each other and come together to throw up hand signs, to kill, to jump.
We hike on our people of the same color because they come form another country, countries where we originated from.
West Africa, South Africa, West Indies. But we say “Oh I am Indian” when was the last time they claimed us.
When do we begin to make and tunr struglle into progress?
Because right now as of 2007 progress is when rap stars come together to make a song that degrades our women or when some gets a break to dance with half their body showing
Progress is when we go to jails to watch out for our homies, our ****** and our dudes.
Progress is when an ignorant mother comes to the school to argues with educators on why their school skipping child got a “D” and not an “A” or a “B”
This is our progress this is what we’ve turned the struggle into.
So don’t let NAACP fool you that we’ve made progress because we are not yet there
So where does it begin?
THE STRUGGLE TO PROGRESS
Hey too bad I just wasted my ink because we don’t read!!!
But still where does it begin?
THE STRUGGLE TO PROGRESS!!!

When you are driving down a country road and you pass a black walking in the other direction they always turn around and stare. What are they staring at? Is there any blacks that can answer this one? I'm very curious trying to understand why blacks do what they do.

Both of my kids are biracial...mixed black and white. My parents are not happy about any of this and have said they are going to raise my kids to be white, which i know is wrong. i want my kids to know both sides of their heritage. Last night a black man came on the TV and my 3 year old pops up and says "i don't like black." i can hardly be mad at him, right? i mean, isn't it my parents' fault? i shouldn't discipline him for it should i?

It seems that by the 20th century the Muslim world had fallen into chaos and became a shadow of the greatness it once was. What lead to this?

I don’t mean to say Islam isn't great today, but it once was the world's super power. During the European dark ages the Muslim world was a bastion of science, literature, and unification. What happened?

I don’t understand why so many white people express these feelings, they are so overtly racially biased its ridiculous.
What is it, they pick fights and get their asses kicked? Are the majority of whites in their county usually overtly racist and some backlash was automatically directed at them? Do they live in the hood, surrounded by blacks upset at their situation anyway? Are they themselves just simpletons and bigots?
I lean toward it all being white privilege, a sociological fact that revolves around whites an indentured, un-acknowledged privilege. I think these facts just make it easier for whites to stereo-type people more.

Children shows in particular are getting poorer and poorer fro america. The classics have all been used and forgotten and now cheap garbage is filling its place.

Most American Comedies (exept MAlcolm in The Middle) are not even funny and contain crude humour and jokes. If I were to sit down and watch Mr Bean I would laugh a thousand times more than if I were to watch an american sitcom.

Movies are out and are just plain stupid(cough Barnyard cough cough) They are all either sequals, remakes or lame ideas.

it is not only american Tv. I am Indian and I can't stand Bollywood. The movies, humour and everything about it is nausiating. The name alone is the most un-original thing ever

This is hilarious, and I’m laughing as I type. Here it goes: I hate labels… don’t we all? But I want to know (out of plain curiosity) what would I be “labeled” as? I’m just really curious. Let’s see… I have a lip piercing, cartilage piercing… I’m 16, my hair is dyed black. I am extremely skinny (just thought I’d add that one on for good measure.) I consider myself one of the realest people out there. I don’t hide myself, mainly because I have nothing to hide. I don’t cut myself… I smoke out about once a week, but I don’t smoke cigarettes, that’s just nasty. I’m bisexual… I have a girlfriend. I wear a lot of black, but I also wear a lot of other colors, so in other words I don’t censor myself to simply one color. I’m wearing pink nail polish… I wear black eyeliner, almost raccoon-ish actually (heheh.) What else? I shave just about every inch of my body. I love to be rebellious, and I hate to be checked on by my parents; I got my piercings with my friends, that and dying my hair. I’m an extremely sexual person, but I’m a virgin… relatively speaking. So, I basically just described my entire self. Any ideas?

Like how come the majority of blacks are drug dealers, Hispanic guys always ride in crowded cars, black people talk with the ebonic accent. A better question is how come people deny these characteristics that set the races apart. The behavior is almost just as noticable as the physical differences themselves. Isn't this part of a races culture anyway? Or does a race not have a culture?

Say you are going for a jog or walk, and you come across a rather poor neighborhood that has groups of black guys walking around. Would you walk or run through the neighborhood anyway? If you were a women and you saw a group or single black guy with the bandana around his head and baggy jeans walking towards you would you be scared? You should be.

Stop being full of crap when people say they stereotype people. You do it too and you should. My boyfriend has been robbed, called a cracker, and beaten up by black guys just for being in their neighborhood. Just admit it, jeezz....

The demographics of our country, our communities, and our school are changing. We in America are the world - so many cultures coming together on common ground. But " one size doesn't fit at all," and key international issues challenge us - both how we work together at home with people of other cultures and with people and countries around the world.

I grew up in predominantly white areas. I live in a oredominately white area. 60% of the women say that they think their husbands are gay. 20% say that their husbands like spending time with other men that with women ( even women they have had affairs with). Is this just something that occurs in top 1% income society or is this universal? Thanks.
