You know, I am disgusted by some of the people that come on Yahoo. I am disgusted by them because I don't believe they should be allowed to use a computer, the Internet or to be able to have a Yahoo e-mail account. Not necessarily the person that has asked this question, but if you can't understand why a person stares...maybe you should ask yourself why you stare. Why would you stare at a woman? Could it be that you find her attractive? Maybe you might know her. Maybe you want to see if she will look back at you. Maybe you want to wave at her. Maybe you just feel like looking at people. Maybe all this adds up to you just being nosy. There are different reasons. And I'm sure that it is not just blacks and not just southern blacks that do this.

People will do things like that--just like driving down a country road past a black person and looking in the rear view to see if they were staring back at you...

How do you know they're staring at you unless you're also looking at them?
And what makes you think one definition from one black person holds true for all black people? Do you really think we're all the same? Some black people stare at you because they may find you attractive, some stare at you because they don't like you, just as other races may have the same opinions.
Open your eyes.

I think this is true of anyone who lives in the country not just black people.
I grew up in a village of 1000 (white) people and people used to stare if they didnt know someone - especially if, god forbid, they were from the big city (or a different colour).
Its just a strange country thing

Do you look odd? Do you STARE at them? Do you have a nice Car?
Would it bother you as much if a white person stared at you?
I was not aware of the stereotype that black people stare, but apparently there are many.

Well I look behind me whenever I am walking alone and someone passes...whether they are walking or in a car I am just worried that someone might try to sneak up on me. I guess I might be kind of paranoid

How do you know they are looking at you if you are not looking at them.
I do notice that people do stare at you more down south.
looking in a mirror is still looking. and chances are they are looking at you for the same reason you are looking at them.

Probably because you're apparently staring at them too. Otherwise, how would you know they were looking?

They are worried that you might turn around and come after them. This way they can get a head start if you do.

In most cases... it's real simple for those of us that know the streets.
They are sizing you up, mostly for some sort of illegal activity, might be a dealer, prostitutes do that all the time, letting you know the shop is open for business.
