actualy i sri lanka as u may know here 20 years of civil war, but lot of thinhs it is terrorism.but it is not true. absolutely the tamils have been handled brutually by the majority sinhalese. 60000 tamil have been killed in this war.

Have you had any funny/bad experiences with Americans being a little ignorant about other countries? No offence meant here BTW just makes me laugh. Now i have a neutral british accent, no twang or extreme dialect and i had loads of americans ask if i was french, German etc after i spoke!! The amount of times people said "pardon" also was ridiculous and you could see them straining to try and understand. I thought it was just me but I realised it was cos i wasnt "curling my R's". At one point i gave my surname "Martin" and this women was like "mountain?" i said it again and she got it wrong 5 times till i spelt it and she's like "oh Marrrrrrrtin"! FFS. Just a few examples there from the last week i had there. I also got asked if i had ever had a hot dog too! And if i knew what "gum" was!!! I truly pity the american ignorance sometimes. I jokily said to one that i had forgotten my bowler hat when it was raining and she tried to give me directions to the mall to get a new one! lol

I am American. Because I am black many people when I first met them insist on referring to Africa. When I explain that I am not African I am American I am asked questions about my herogit. As if to say where in Africa did you grandmother come from? Texas. oh What about your great gran? Texas. Dont you want to find your people? I didnt lose them I know where they are, Texas. How do you answer the question? How do you explain you are what you are?

I asked a perfectly nice question earlier about British - while all answers were nice l could detect a sense of hostility from Scottish people. Why dont they like us? We like them, and l dont think we have done anything recently to upset them (except maybe beat them ay football, rugby etc) Do Scottish people really not like us or is it just a similar rivalry that we English have with the French?

I am a white girl livin in a small town where the amount of black or asian familys is very small. I have just started a new job and i am the only white girl workin with at least 7 black men at a time. On my first day i had a few comments from friends telling me to be careful or just general shock that i wasn't worried. The thing is, these guys have turned out to be some of the nicest people! Such gentlemen and they are all very respectful... Why is it that in this day and age society still exculdes and judges people who they may view as different? Surely its these differences that make like interesting??

There are lots of other countries undergoing economic boom, and thus their cities look fabulous...with such vast skyscrappers...when i visited india, it was quite contrasting to what people talk about ie India being asian economic giant....
