Good things and bad things pass from hands to hands.
If we learn to broaden our vision a little farther, we will realize that human life depends not on separated events, but on the whole process from birth to death, relating to the world visible and invisible. That is why the rational beings don't satisfy with daily pleasures for mere survival, but they accept many phases of loss to attain some higher level in the ever-advancing civilized society.
