I recently responded kinda aggressively to a couple of guys. One feels all Australian women are horrible (he used another word) and the other feels that American men have the right to have a superiority complex and that includes the right to take advantage of women. I got a slap on the wrist because I called them idiots.
What are your thoughts and how can we gently educate men like this on the respect we have for ourselves.
By the way, I'm not a passionate feminist, I'm actually pretty traditional in a lot of things to do with marriage and stuff so it's not about women being better (just in case any guys sneak-a-peek at this). It's about respect.

I am 1/2 black, and 1/2 white. White I use as a generic term, as well as black.

I personally find the term African-American offensive. I was born here, and do not want to be hyphenated. An immigrant who is from Africa, and naturalized is African-American to me...(Origin of birth -- Current residence).

A white South African who is naturalized is technically African-American to me, though most would say that isn't correct.

To hyphenate someone who is born somewhere is not proper, as it suggests they are not native to that land.

I do not know alot of my father's (black) side, and lineage, and believe black is most proper. Since blacks were considered property for 400 years, I doubt any accurate records could be found.

Convince me why I should accept African-American if Euro-American is not an official term.

I work with a man at work who is of Chippewa decent, err rather Ojibwa as he prefers.

Indian isn't PC, but more comfortable to say, and I try to be PC and say Native American, or just Native (what 'you' call this land I believe varies).

As, he likes Reggae music. Which I see as enjoyed by like 95% black, and white combined...anyone else see this as an odd match?

-----I'm 1/2 black and would gladly work on Martin Luther King's birthday (I'm a workaholic), but that would be an optional day
-----I work in restaurants, for years, and most number of days I was guaranteed off was Christmas, and Thanks giving, which I want off.

Black people call us crackers and say we smell like wet dogs when it rains but if we say black in front of them they want to jump us. Pimp My Ride makes fun of white people like when on one episode they make two white guys say, "do you like my shirt tucked in or out?" and a colored man says,"white people." and shakes his head.but a colored girl on a different show got mad because they used "black girl" as a name replacement in her yearbook. im tired of it i just want everyone to get along

Why is this done some may ask? It is very much supprted in theory by the bible. Remember the story of Legions? The man who lived by the cemetary and had Legions of demons possessing him, hence the name. Jesus cast out the demons into a nearby herd of pigs. Those pigs wild with demons ran off the cliff and killed them selves therefore shedding blood. Well tis the same belief. Santero/a will take the Bad health, Witchcraft, or negative issue off of a person and put it in to the animal. COuld be a chicken, goat, or Cow. Then they get sacrificed to God or the saints. IN the same way it was necesarry for Jesus to shed blood for our sins to be resolved. SOmetimes a sacrifice is in order! I hope this opens some minds up!
