I am American, and my #1 girl is from Japan. If we married, I've seen brides' clothing: white kimono and proper accessories topped with a uchikake robe that may be solid white or have various patterns on a background of white, gold, orange or red. Miyuki says the colors and things shown symbolize various things, e.g. white=purity, red=happiness, cranes & pines=longevity, etc. Her surname Komatsu means "Small Pine", so I'll probably get her a uchikake with pines. I could ask her about my clothing, but I want to surprise her. I have kimono in black, grey and brown and matching haoris. I have several hakama, plain and striped. My tabi are blue, black and white. My zori have black straps. I also have three antique samurai kamishimo and hakama. Do you think that any of my japanese clothing is proper to wear to a Japanese wedding, or should I buy more. Perhaps Miyuki can judge the best answers to this question. Silly answers result in deleted questions.
