worship of the one God preceded all others. in my opinion, this can't really be called a religion.
Goddess worship and earth worship began around 3800BC
3800BC is also believed to be around the original start state for Satanism.
Aryanism was from around 2250BC.
Druidism around 2248BC.
Baal Worship and Masonry came around 2240BC.
Hinduism found its appearance around 2000BC. This is near the time Abraham lived as well. Though, Abraham came a few decades after 2000BC.
Zoroastrianism came about in either 1600 or 650BC.
Voodoo around 1000BC
Buddhism 583BC
Confucianism and Jainism 520BC
Shinto and Humanism500BC
Gnosticism 35BC
Christianity 27AD
Taoism 440 or 550AD
Islam 622AD
Wicca 1930s AD
Scientology 1954AD
If I've used ancient mid-east texts correctly, 3924BC is the date for the appearance of Adam. Though I don't consider the worship of God to be a religion, I know most people other people do.
As far as organized religion goes, there are at least 4 or 5 that preceded Hinduism. Though the popular answer for your question is Hinduism.
It's also popular to say that monotheism borrowed it's ways from existing pagan religions. However, I see it as opposite. I've found that several cultures have an inresting depiction contained in their remains. There is a depiction of a woman with a snake or some other serpent wrapped around her waist or passing through her stomach. While a child is under her foot or feet. This to me is in clear opposition to the prophecy given in Genesis that the woman's seed would crush the serpent's head and the serpent would strike the woman's seed's heel. This depiction is interestingly placed in glyphs of various cultures around the world including but not confined to Mesopotamian, Mayan, Canaanite, Oriental, African, and some European. I didn't name them all.
It would depend on which set of information you decide is most accurate. Though, I personally believe alot of information is ignored.

Out of the major world religions (Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Sikhism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Taoism)
Hinduism is the oldest. The Vedic teachings that form the basis of Hinduism date from as far back as 3000 BC
Judaism was said to have been started by Abraham in 1600 BC
Christianaty came from Jesus Christ around 2006 years ago
Taoism dates from 206 BC
Buddhism was founded by Gautama Buddha who was believed to have lived somewhere between 563BC and 483BC
Islam comes from the profit Muhammad who was around in the 7th century AD
Sikhism was founded by Guru Nanak Dev (1469–1538AD)
Obviously there were other religions before these that date way back to before recorded history but it is only the modern religions that have been we have information on.

Submission to Hindu friends: If itwasthe oldest then the word Hindu be there in Vedas!"Hindu" like the mystic word "Om" does not appear in theVeda books. The title 'Hindu' was given to the natives by the Immigrants or Invaders from the North. The word :Hindu does not have good literal meanings in the Persian dictionary. Unless you know 'the name' of the religion in the old, prehistoric India, you may not assert that Hinduism is the oldest religion. Then, there is no definition of a Hindu. There are no fundamentals. Any one who claims so is recognised as a Hindu---whatever be the beliefs. Prof Dr RadhaKrishnan asserts that Hindu is a monotheist. Is it 'apparently' so when throughout India, no temple is dedicated to Parmatma(God, Allah, The Lord of lords), but to one of the Icons(Bhagwan)? Is "Hinduism" a religion or a well established culture, a grand mixture of several religions into one entity of the known history of India? The Indian Philosophy is indeed admired. But the Indian Hinduism is yet to be defined... Kindly come back with more questions in order to know Hindu Faith. Thanks.

As of now the world's oldest civilization has been found to be the 'Sumerians' or ancestors of the Akkadians (who we know as Babylonians.) Religion wise they were Pagans.
All and All, its a unsolved Mystery...Though some Historians believe that The earliest known Human religion, Andronism is first known to Sages through records of the Sapoy race's migrations about 9000-10000 years ago

The one where God talked to Adam and Eve directly. Of course that is general church history and applies to the whole universe not just this earth. The Bible starts with the first literal person being Abraham. People still believed in higher powers because God instills that in everyone who hasn't rationalized it away.

Hi,
Hinduism isn't as old as it is made out, ancient Greek sailors are known to have visited India, bring with them their philosophy, at that time Indians worshipped primitive fertility cults. Islam, as a religion is recent. Taoism is old but is it a religion? Scholars are undecided about the origins of Shinto. Judaism, Zoroastrianism? take your pick. Of course there are older religeons that are no longer practiced.

the first form of worship was animism where people saw spirits in the wind, the weather, the trees etc. So when there was a storm it was called an "angry spirit" and people felt it needed to be propitiated to keep future storms away (for example)
