Do and of yoy guys in the gay community ever get really lonely? I know everyone does at times, but I really feel like being gay has made the situation worse. I feel like I don't really fit in with any group or crowd...I'm an Asian gay male who (I think) acts pretty "normal" in that I don't prance around like a feminine queen. I've never really felt like I could be part of the stereotypical gay scene (the club and hookup scene), but I always find myself feeling a little left out of my straight friends' conversations...as if I can't really talk frankly about all the things that are in my heart, etc. I went to San Francisco thinking it would be amazing, but I just came back a little jaded...all the negative stereotypes associated with gay men seemed magnified 10 times there, and I know that's not what I want out of life. I just want to settle down with a decent guy and live like everyone else...a family, a home, a meaningful purpose in this life. Is that just a dream?

I'm curious to see what folks have to say on the subject of myths and misconceptions about being gay.

What is the worst one you've seen? Personally, I'm irked whenever I see the old "you're gay because you were molested as a child by a member of the same sex!" chestnut, and it seems to come up fairly often...

Kay, im a bit confused. If you are a lesbian, than you are attracted to women... right? So how come everytime i see lesbians, like 50% wear boy clothes, and look like boys?
...if you like girls, then id imagine you'd want your partner to look as girly as possible right?
..Im a guy. I like girls. I dont want my girlfriend to look like a boy.

I often hear gays and lesbians condenming christians for disagreeing with their lifestyle. Fair enough. I also hear gays and lesbians preach tolerance for the muslim countries we are at war with (i.e. Rosie O'donnel). Yet in those countries that you preach tolerance for, they condenm gays and lesbians and cut their heads off. Where's the outrage over that? You are lucky to be living in the USA, right?

My friend is going out with a man, and he doesnt see her often, nor talk to her, and seems to be making many excuses to get out of seeing her. Just recently, her childhood friend (a gay man) told her and laughed at her that he had slept with her boyfriend, and more news has come out that my friend's boyfriend has been dating another man for months. He denies it, but he has been avoiding her, so it seems to be true. I have told her and told her to forget him, run away from him, kill him, whatever it takes to get rid of him, but..., she loves him, so doesnt want to leave him. How bloody complicated can you get? And what can i tell her, or advise her on what to do? I really give up, and she still calls me crying about him.

Okay. So my girlfriend and I are planning to move in together, and we are college-age, etc.

Basically, this means that my living costs are going to cut in half because we are joining our finances, etc. How do I explain to my parents what I am doing? I am not out yet because my father is a bigot who actually banned the GSA program at my school when I was in High School. (talk about complications...)

Also, I am hoping that this will be a safe post for GLBT so if you all would like to describe your situations and relationships that would be fine, as this is the purpose of a GLBT section, and I wish for that to be executed.

I'm personally homosexual, and in no way religious. However, I know some have differing opinions, so I'd like to hear from you lot. What do you think about homosexuality? Are you homosexual (Or bi?), and do you think it's possible to "Cure" so to speak the "Disease." (I think that's bull, though)?

Please answer only if you are Trans or familiar with this issue. No amount of flaming or hate will help and will make said flamer just look uneducated and rude.

My spouse and I are legally married in Massachusetts. My mother-in-law is very religious but has come to treat me like the girly daughter she never had. We are happy with our life. Even though both of our families love and support us we have one secret.

My family knows that my spouse is in the long process of becoming male, they have no problem with this as long as I am happy. My family refers to my spouse with his chosen male name and with male pronouns. All of our friends do the same.

His family does not know.

He tried to tell his mother years ago, before we ever met. His mother would not speak to him for a month. We are not sure if she understands that the process is still going on.

My spouse has reached a point where he wants his mother and father to know and start to use his new name. He (as a she) has a very close relationship with his parents and does not want to loose them.

Any ideas how to talk to them without completely loosing the relationship that we have with them?
