I'm curious to see what folks have to say on the subject of myths and misconceptions about being gay.

What is the worst one you've seen? Personally, I'm irked whenever I see the old "you're gay because you were molested as a child by a member of the same sex!" chestnut, and it seems to come up fairly often...

1.) I'm bi so I'm attracted to everyone.
2.) Gays can never be faithful.
3.) From a guy at work: You see, since gays are attracted to the same sex, they get turned on whenever they see themselves in a mirror.
4.) From a girl at a party: I hear that when you have gay sex, you stop being anal retentive. Eek.
5.) A girl at college who wins the "Unclear on the Concept" Award: My male friend just told me he was gay. Well, I just had to get out of there; I thought he was going to rape me!

I was molested when I was 7 by an old man. But I had gay thoughts before that, and yes, I remember them.

There are also a lot straight men who were molested. And, most molesters are straight pedophiles who prey on little girls.

Sexuality is a human condition, and it's complicated. You can't just say "Gay people were molested," and think it's that simple.

These 3 are particularly annoying to ME:

1, That because i'm a lesbian, im attracted to EVERY woman. LOL. Please. People should NOT flatter themselves. I'm pickier than 97% of the population and just because YOU find yourSELF attractive, doesnt mean i share the same opinion.

2, That just because im a feminine lesbian, it would be "easy" for a man to "turn me back in". I havent dated a man since highschool and i didnt enjoy it then. Never have, never will. They should all just stop trying.

3, That all lesbians "became" that way because we hate men and have had some sort of traumatic experience. First off, i dont hate men. I quite like them. They're great friends. Just dont wanna DATE any of them. And i have never had any bad experiences. No childhood predators, no absent-father, nothing. I JUST LOVE WOMEN. End of story.
