Masturbation is a sin because one has to fantasize in order to... get excited. In the bible it says that even thinking about doing a sin is just as bad as commiting it. If you can masturbate without fantasizing about anybody, im assuming its not a sin but thats impossible. Or very very hard...

I heard there was something or other in the bible against it. Something along the lines of "spilling" your seed outside a womb or something. But then again, that isn't actually Gods word. That is mans word. My opinion is, be a good person, treat others well, don't lie, don't cheat, don't steal, conduct yourself with pride and morals and God will probably be just fine looking the other way at a little self induced pleasure. If it is in the bible, watch out, the right wing conservatives will probably try to make it illegal soon, oh wait they only care about homosexuality :)

Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).

The Catholic Church recognizes the power of sex when it teaches, "Sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul."

Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person. A chaste person's body and spirit lives in unity and opposes any behavior that would impair that unity.

Masturbation is contrary to the human dignity of the person and anyone about whom the person has lustful thoughts, and the dignity of human sexuality.

With love in Christ.

Do what you wanna do. You can't go through life wondering if everything you do is a sin.
