I'm asking a serious question here. Why do homosexuals insist on coming out of the closet? Sure, the person can be a wonderful person and an utter joy to be with, but somehow coming out can be and often is a cataclysmic event that drives away friends, family, and other such loved ones. If a person's homosexuality is so vague that coming out is necessary (as opposed to the stereotype who's obviously gay by running around saying "HELLOOOO!!!!"), why not stay there where you're safe? While the vast majority of people (I hear) are tolerant of homosexuality, it still has the power to completely destroy a person's social circle. Why take that risk instead of just keeping it to yourself? (I'm not saying they should be ashamed of it in any way. I'm just wondering why they make such a bold move as actually talking about it.)
