Animals work on a much more basic and less complicated level than we do. Therefore sexuality is never an issue with them. They do not think about levels of attraction like we do. Therefore they do not think about 'gay', 'straight' or 'bi' they just do what comes naturally to them. No shame, no 'is that right, is that wrong?' Just do it. Therefore sexuality isn't a question that would enter an animals head and I'm sure if you asked them they'd agree!
Having said that that's not to say homosexulity doesn't exist in animals, it just doesn't in the way we know it.

October thinks she knows... hahaha... but, alas she doesn't. Animals do not only have intercourse for reproductive reasons... they also do so as a sign of dominance. Look at wolf packs for this example. Also, I had two female dogs growing up and the meaner one would always mount the submissive one (sure, no intercourse there... but... it was still the act of trying that threw us all for a loop) Animals may not have sex for pleasure (I don't really know... I'm human afterall) but they do use sex for other reasons aside from the ho-hum variation of making babies...

Same sex intercourse is extremely common in the animal kingdom. Dogs, monkeys, gophers, as well as many others. Im not sure if that denotes homosexuality but at the least bi. This is not done for dominance as some might like to believe. If your dog humps your leg its sexual not an act of dominance.

There have been many recorded accounts of homosexuality in animals. One such is the pair of penguins in that zoo in New York that And Tango Makes Three was written about. There was a whole article about homosexuality in animals in economist magazine about a month ago.

This has actually crossed my mind as well...I don't think animals can be homosexual because unlike humans, the only evident purpose for intercourse is to reproduce. I don't really believe animals have intimate "relationships" as human beings experience them (although dogs come close).
Humans, I believe, were meant to be socially and emotionally complex creatures, whereas animals were set by nature to have a more basic existence. Most just live to produce offspring to enable their species to thrive.

Animals only mate for reproductive reasons and not for pleasure like humans. The female monkey will not mate unless she is able to conceive, and the same thing applies to dogs, cats, etc. If you see your male dogs humping each other out in the yard it's a dominance issue.
I'm not saying this because I'm "anti-gay" or something, because I'm not like that. My best friend is gay, so I'm open to any forms of relationships.
My family owns a farm and we breed dogs and train them to heard cattle. Roosters in the chicken houses will attempt to mount each other as a display of dominance. Young bulls will try and mount each other when they are young, to try and be the dominant one once they are older. Bulls will also mount each other when they are young just as practice.
