I personally don't believe God made me that way, it was in my gene pool, my parents made me that way, my enviroment made me that way, or any of the other more common explinations. In fact, I'm not sure what made me a lesbian other than me just being true to who I am. I'm 44, and have been out of the closet since I was 20. ......and coming out wasn't so wellcome back in 1982.

I'm not a lesbian, but I think the hardest thing about being one would be the fact that if you lose your lover....you lose your bestfriend, too.

I mean, we all say that our boyfriend or our husband is our best friend, but really.....they don't come close to your best girlfriend.

Is this the case, for lesbians, if you break up with your girlfriend? Is it twice as devastating as it would be if you were to break up with a man? It just seems like it would be to me.

Yes you may prefer a certain gender and so forth, but when love is right there and the both of you feel it, why would one hold back?

So I have been out of the closet for six years but I am still not comfortable with being gay. I have been on one date in the past three years and I have absolutely no gay friends. I used to date alot in high school (guys) but now it just seems so hard...I'm not comfortable in gay bars and I'm not comfotable dating off-line.

I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem of...I guess it would be called self-homophobia and what they did to get over it? I'm not unattractive or anti-social and I make friends really easily but I still can't seem to find people to date.....any suggestions?

I found it hard to form this question. This is my case. My darling Gwen and I met at our office and through mutual liking of classical music and a shared humor eventually realised our love after 3 years.
While just friends, her family welcomed me and invited me to their church. When we moved in together, the position changed. Horrid Bigots is the only way I can describe it.
At the end, I was away for a time and returned to find that Gwen had died from a rapid onset cancer.
The family had her buried in the non concecrated part of their cemetary and inscribed her stone with "UNKNOWN TO GOD".
I suffered severe depression and am now recovering. I have received helpful advice from readers of "Answers", but was wodering if such hatredwas commonplace.

Okay. Are you ready? My gay friends, I am curious about something. If you don't like the opposite sex (sexually speaking only, of course) then why do many gay people tend to ACT like the opposite sex? For example, gay men are attracted to men, but many of them ACT like the gender they do not sexually prefer -- women. Same goes for lesbians. Insights?

Good heavens, if anyone takes this question as a slam against gay people, chill out. I am not judging gay people. Hardly. Lord knows I have enough logs in my own eye. I am just honestly curious. Thanks.

was walking in belmot shores , ca ( long beach area ) primarily a gay area. and the wife and i noticed lesbain couples in which one was very manly of boysih looking . whats the point . if you like girls why dont you date a girl who looks like a girl. My beautiful wife has decided that she is now mentally and physically ready to have children. And we have decided on how to go about it, except for one issue. She wants to have the water method done at home. The only issue is that we're finding it hard to find a midwife or agency that will help us out.
