If the shoe fits, wear it.

Its not the fear of gays. Its the fear of homosexuality. And that's what makes you feel the way you do. Believe it or not.

But you know, if you didn't hang out in the LGBT section here, you wouldn't hear it so much.

In your term, its because they afraid if they agree with the idea of homosexual, people will misunderstood that they are also homosexual. They are coward and had no respect for others. Its a sin when you try to hurt other living things and destroy other stuff.Following your own sexuallity is not a sin.Its not natural when this prejudice people existed.Being yourself and pursuing what you really like is natural. Its only will get disgusting when you think is disgusting. The happiness that you will get being comfortable with yourself and have respect for others is far away from sinful, unnatural and definately not disgusting

Homophobia isn't based only fear it's based on disgust and hatred. This is from wikipedia:

Homophobia is the fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals. It can also mean hatred of and disparagement of homosexual people, their lifestyles, sexual behaviors or cultures, and is generally used to assert bigotry.

That's why people "throw" around the word "homophobia", because it applies in many situations, I dare say most, where there is discrimination against LGBT people. I hope this helps to answer your question.

Correction:

ho·mo·pho·bia
Pronunciation: "hO-m&-'fO-bE-&
Function: noun
: irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals

Your disgust that comes from social conditioning is indeed homophobia. Your forging national policy on the basis of your religious beliefs IS homophobia. I was also going to get into how we're still developing the language to talk about sexual orientation, but frankly I don't think you'd care.

Wrong. Homophobia is not just the "fear" of homosexuals:

"prejudice against (fear or dislike of) homosexual people and homosexuality"

Therefore, one who finds gays "sinful, unnatural, and disgusting" qualifies as a homophobe.

And yes, being a homophobe is a bad thing. It's every bit as bad as racism.

Society's favourite understanding of the note "cult" is extra similar to the expertise that psychologists or therapists adhere to, many times at the same time as operating with sufferers who're coping with the aftereffects of leaving a cult. there is not any short definition, yet particularly a itemizing of features that cults have a tendency to own. I have called a particular faith a cult, and that i have not used the note loosely. My designation of this faith as a cult comes from own adventure with the religion and analyze about cults. i will not talk for the different religions, or faith commonly. we may be able to cut up hairs about the use and definition of the note, yet i ought to particularly help those whose lives were damage with the aid of them. And in case you imagine that they don't exist, or that they don't seem risky, i can inform you some horror memories both from a own and a specialist attitude.

You answered your own question. Hatred is born out of fear and ignorance. There is nothing inherently sinful or disgusting about homosexuality. That is subjective opinion - born of ignorance and fear. Fear or what? Possibly fear of the truth - that there really is nothing to fear and that would mean a) the bible isn't 100% infallible and b) someone very close to you may be gay and you'll have to face that fact.

homophobia can and often does mean that people are afraid of homosexual tendencies that they see in themselves. and when this is the case these can be the most horrible anti gay people that you could(n't) imagine...I believe that all human sexuality is a spectrum..it's not an on/off light switch or a black or white issue--everyone just falls somewhere on the line..and may even move left and right throughout their lives. Who we love and sleep with is really kind of minor when you consider the terrible problems facing the world these days

I think today it's used more to describe someone who is intolerant and unaccepting of the fact that differences exist among all of us. Just because you may think it's sinful, unnatural and disgusting certainly does not mean everyone does...that is simply your OPINION. Everyone is entitled to their own, but my question to you is why do you think "homophobes" spend so much time worrying about what a gay person does if it offends them? Don't you think you'd NOT want to think about it all the time?

why would you feel all homos are sinful, unnatural, and disgusting? Why because they love someone that is like them! You need to read the account of king David again, about his friend that loved him more than a brother and friend! Then you need to read Jesus account where he said not to cast the first stone! Then you need to skip on over to 1 John where it talks about "to know God is to know love, because God is love." I dint want to hear none of this Leviticus nonsense " a man should not lie with a man" because in that same passage it says not to eat shell fish or fish. I'm sure you don't think anyone who eats fish and shrimp is Sinful, Unnatural, or disgusting. You need to better analyze why you have those feelings and dint hide behind a Book called the Bible! Why do YOU feel this?
