Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian friends. What is your menu for the meal of the day? Similiar to the turkey/stuffing of some US citizens? Although we are such a melting pot turkey is not for everyone any more.

Blacks from other cultures, ie. Rhianna (Barbados), Nia Long (Trinidadian), Oluchi (Nigerian) etc etc...in terms of personality, dress, physical features (face)...

...or do you mostly assume they are simply 'African Americans'

please no racial comments, just curious

I recently met this guy and we're becoming great friends. He's from Spain, masculine, talks about sports and beer, but never mentions girls. I'm assuming he is straight, due to some other remarks so I think he would be uncomfortable if he knew his new friend was gay. So... I'm not exactly telling him. I wouldn't lie if he asked, and I don't feel censored around him, so if he doesn't have to tell me he's straight why should I have to announce I'm gay?

I was just wondering if there was ever any reasoning that is against homosexuality that doesn't come from religious beliefs.

All of us are born accidentlly - that is - the result or an end product of an amorous lust between a man and a woman. After being born we became elders, discharged our duties and responsibilities and brought up our kids with a cherished dream that they will take care of us at the fag end of our lives. We also gave our luxuries /ambitions/personal likes because we wanted our kids to live happily and get whatever that was denied to us. Look at what happened - the kids grew up, left for green pastures and left us high and dry. Syndrome is natural. I am finding it difficult to even go to the loo because my kids are not around to help me. What says U?

I have realized that taking early retirement from my job had unexpected consequences. I babysit an infant grandchild, as I had planned, and enjoy it very much. I had envisioned a permanent vacation while I was relatively young (age 57) and healthy. Evidently it's true that nature does abhor a vacuum! Now people are approaching me with job offers. Some are interesting and some require more time and energy than I want to invest. I've always held to the "Go with the flow" philosophy of life. I'm a Christian and know that God does open doors for us, and I pray about everything.

Have you faced a similar situation? Any advice you'd like to offer?

I don't understand why because They always label there selfs Ethiopian or white. They get mad and racists when someone call them African. Ethiopians have dark skin and some of them don't like to be call african. It's does not mean you have straight hair you not a African.

This is kinda making me a racists towards Ethiopians but I not trying to! Ethiopians what wrong with your skin color but you are a African ok. Are Ethiopians trying to tell African-Americans to stop using this American cluture and find out what country came from. Maybe some of us African-American have Ethiopian in us but you never know untill you find out.

can you remember one that got stuck in your head and drove you batty? I recall going to Disneyworld years ago and couldn't get "It's A Small World" out of my head for weeks.

I think hubby has an iPod in his head. He is always singing something and every now and then one gets stuck in there and it's all I hear. I have to tell him to shuffle so he gets off that one and onto another.

The type of mood where everybody ought to stay out of your way? You're dealing with issues you have little control over, and you know everything will work out at some point? You don't necessarily want to be in this mood, but you know you're in a mood and don't even want people around? Tell me about it, then please make me laugh.
