I figure I can look to see what others put down after I answer the question, then I can compare my answer to theirs to see how close we all think, how about you guys/gals?

I asked this same question, and I think you answered it. Are you the guy with no face and no name? LOL Even if you aren't, this just proves that we think alike!

Normally I just answer, but if it's been a while since the question was posted, I'll read other answers to make sure I'm not saying the same thing. Other times I'll read the answers first if I'm not sure about the gist of the question. Like you, I always go back and read everyone's answers later..it's fun and interesting, and sometimes a real eye-opener!!

Edit...case in point, I just went back and read what everyone said, and I ended up saying nearly the same thing after all..lol!

It depends on the question. If it's just something wanting my opinion, I usually read the others after I've answered. If it's wanting facts, I look to see if someone else gave the answer already and give it a thumbs up. There's no use answering, unless I have something else to add. If it's all in fun, then I like to see what everyone else said and add my own take on it.

I do both. Although, I have misread questions only to realize that after I just answered. There was one question recently regarding who were the first chefs on TV and I mistakenly read the first "chiefs" on TV and almost responded "Tonto" when I should have been responding "Julia Child". Now that would have been embarrassing had I not looked at some of the responses before I answered!

It depends on my mood of the day. Sometimes I just want to answer off the top o my head. Other days I see quite a few have answered and I read those to see if I have anything relevant to add. Many times when it has been said better than I could I just give thumbs up on the good answers.

If it's a question that has only one answer...like what is the name of a song, etc...I read the answers first, rather than just saying the same thing again just to get 2 points...;-)

But most times I post my answer first and don't read others so as not to be swayed one way or another or 'piggy back' on someone elses words. THEN I go back read all answers for the same reason as you :-)

If I am positive (?) about the answer AND I think I can answer it clearly, I submit an answer without reading the others first.

If I'm somewhat unclear about the meaning of the question OR not sure on the best way to respond, I'll look at the other answers to give me some idea on how to be understood when I answer.
;-)

I answer the question first then I look at the other answers. If I were to look at the other answers first and see the answer I was going to give then I would think, "Oh someone already said that." and I wouldn't answer at all !!! So I never look first !!!!!

I never look at what other people say because I don't want it to subconsciously affect MY thinking. I just answered a question and I was wondering how you seniors would answer it. It's under OTHER POLITICS and GOVERNMENT The question was SOCIAL SECURITY GONE? It was something I think they should have posted here. I'll be looking for your answers there...I think the answers are alike because a lot of us think alike...

I usually answer the question right off the bat if it interests me. Looking at someone elses answer before you try to answer theirs may stray your mind away from your own train of thought and disregard what you really mean.
When one asks a question on here, he/she usually want a wide variety of ideas or solutions from different sources so they can pick the one that more suites their lifestyle or beliefs.
