None of you know what you're talking about. You can find this from any history book so read a little before calling someone a spray tanning guido. (which is racist as hell by the way. This post came up on yahoo when I searched dialects.Teaches me to stick with google.Do you know where the term caucasian comes from? The caucus mountains.Meaning of a nordic celtic- ancestry.Which is not inclusive to true greek descendents such as sicilians and calabrians and other tightknit families. The actual reason most Italians are of caucasian ancestry is because of nordic invasion, control and complete regime and interbreeding. Ever heard of punnet squares? The nordic traits are extremely dominant .True italian's are of mediterranean ancestry not caucasian at all.Tracing our blood directly from the levants and the cradle of civilization.

Dee rap is right.
I think you Americans should agree about what "white" means before using the label "white".
If white means caucasoid, yes Italian are "white"; even brown skinned Iranians, Algerians, etc. are "white. Actually human races don't exist: body feature type are not straight and fast separated. If you move along Old World, you will find fading differences.
If "white" means WASP, Italoamericans aren't white. But this label has lost almost its meaning today :
1. most Italoamerican can't speak Italian, their native language is English; they keep to be Catholic, but they have lost most peculiar customs and they are similar
2. In first half of XX cent. they are a discriminated minority and, as that, they deserved protection. Today we have Giuliani, Iacocca, Scalia andd so on.

Apparently Ole Wes is ashamed of being white, which in fact basically distinguishes him as definitely NOT really being Italian, and therefore not white.
Italians are white-there is no argument, nor can there be for anyone with half a brain.
Yes there are mixed race Italians(I presume) as there are mixed race others of all nationalities all over the planet. They are not white.
This mistaken assumption continues mainly because many Mediterranean people Greek and Italian acquire a dark complexion due to their climate.
Skin color is not, and really never has been, the deciding factor in racial identification.Blood is.
Skin color is just an indication, nothing more.A probability at most.
Nonwhites of mixed race origins often try to confuse this issue in hopes of establishing a president that everyone is of some white and nonwhite mix, which is completely untrue. This is the ongoing lie continually force fed to the media by left wing equality fools.
Real Italians know who's who
& who's white too.
Don't forget it

Protestant Anglo Americans in the early 20th century (when Italian immigrants were flocking to the US) supposedly did not think of Italians as "white" people like themselves. This, of course, was a reason to discriminate against these new immigrants. Unlike today, there was a very strong push for immigrants to learn English and become Americanized. This is one reason why many second- and third -generation Italian-Americans did not learn to speak Italian in the home setting.
At least by the mid 20th century, Italian-Americans were considered "white Americans." It is what kept them from being interred in detention camps During WW II. That is, along with Japanese Americans, the government considered interring Italian Americans in detention camps as well but reconsidered because it thought putting white people in detention camps in the US might cause some hysteria. Unfortunately, Japanese Americans bore the brunt of racial prejudice at that time.
