If the trend in this article continues maybe we will actually have a melting pot in this country. I can't think of a higher ideal than for all americans to be 1/4 hispanic, 1/4 asian, 1/4 black, 1/4 white. Then we have all the grand parents a jew, muslim, christian and buddhist. I just think at minimum the family get togethers could be taped as motion pictures.

to be of glbts...Do you think that we, as gay people, should be more out to people around us just for this effect? I mean if Dorothy at work really likes you--then isn't she less likely to be homophobic? Is there a strong case for people being homophobic (racist, whatever) just because they don't really know any of us as individuals?
Or is it the opposite?--more of a situation that is simply that non-homophobic people tend to have more gay friends?

I'm currently living in Atlanta,Ga and I just can't take the racial tension between ALL races here (black,white,hispanic,asian and so on) Racism is so FLAGRANT it makes me sick to my stomach. My mother has re-married to an african-american and wherever we go outside of the metropolitan area we get "dirty looks" or "stares" from all people of all races. Is it that strange to see 2 people of different ethnic backgrounds together? I get the same looks when I'm hanging out with friends from different backgrounds,I do my best to ignore it,and at first it was entertaining,now it all just makes me sick to my stomach (the kind of sick that you used to get when you were a child and knew that you were in trouble or just uncomfortable) Is there anywhere in this country that people come together and aren't so segregated including neighborhoods and living situations? I want the city where 2 people of different backgrounds can hold hands and noone looks or thinks twice. Please help.

I live in a building which mainly houses disabled adults and it is in Scotland.
Last night our building and the cars of carers and service users alike were targeted by petty thugs and vandals the police took forever to get here and then acted like they did not know what building they were going to. it's not the first time or the last time that the building was attacked it's not the first time the police failed us either the building is very obvious and it's purpose is obvious
the bottom line however is that the residents and workers in this building are HUMAN BEINGS, LIVING BREATHING PEOPLE not OBJECTS,
DIRT or ANIMALS!
I intend to petition the community and send the petition off to appropriate organisations
what else can I do to protect my friends and neighbours?
i am already involving social work and advocacy
please ONLY answer if you have a LEGITIMATE answer to give this is a VERY serious situation
also please don't use the word retarded or other offensive terms

I don't understand why some Americans think they are in Iraq for oil. Ive talked to some Americans about and they don't know anything about the 1990's and Arabic history. Majority of Americans don't know the difference from a shia and a sunni Muslim, and have you heard the threats that are still being made by al qada. I will. My girlfriend is Puerto Rican and she looks white to me with tan skin and dark hair although sometimes she doesn't consider herself that. I want to raise my kids the white way; I will tell them to be proud of their white heritage and to never marry someone who looks alien to them. They will also get benefits of the Hispanic label as I will tell them to always mark it for getting into college or a job. Are you going to raise your kids the white way?

Who should care about color, language or nation?
Black, white, red, yellow.... most want to prosper in life and live as a happy family.

I had 3 birthday cards in this mornings post, my husband thinks I'm funny cos I won't open them till the correct day.
I say, if I do then what will I have to look forward to when it is my birthday?

That brought back a happy memory too, my son came in one day and said, " Ma! why are the choccies I bought you for Mothers Day still unopened?" I told him cos if I eat them now I won't get any more until Easter so I like to look at them.
Two days later he appeared with another box, and said, "Now open your choccies and look at this box instead!" Oh happy days!
So my question is. Do you save up treats for later or are they gone in a flash? x

Young people treat the very people who gave them life and sustained them through their growing years as though now they must be patronized. They make you feel like you can't do anything for yourself or anyone else and that your thinking is suddenly salad. My boyfriends elderly aunt has been cheated out of three homes and thousands of dollars by distant relatives who she thought cared for her. (they hung around her all the time until they got what they wnated_). At this point I don't know if she h;as any money left at all and she is getting more and more senile every day. What can we do to help her? (Her grandchildren adn sister probably won't have anything to inherit at this rate. I am also afraid that after they use her up they may wind up puting her in an old folks home, when actually she had enough money and property to be cared for at home for the rest of her life.
